Brazilian Boots' CD "Dive" was released April 18th 2006 on Calibrated. This is their first CD as a band. The band members are all very experienced in different styles but they all have the love for bossa nova and MPB in common.
All of the material on the new CD, apart from one Jobim-song, is written by singer/guitarist Lars De Lamotte, who has a danish/dutch/indonesian heritage. Since an early age he has studied to sing Bossa Nova and MPB in portuguese and received his formal training at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory. He's been working with brazilian musicians such as, Magno Bissoli, Nailor Proveta, Ivan Bastos and Afonso Correa. On some of the songs he has been co-working with his wife, Janne Garbarsch. Janne appears on two tracks on the CD. Their brazilian friend, Gloria De Freitas, has also contributed to some of the lyrics. And the musicians in the band, have of course, left their personal mark on the music.
The bands' sound is coloured by the use of vintage keyboards, like rhodes and vocoder. But also flute, accoustic guitar and congas add to the flavour. It's like a genuine jazz/brazil/fusion outfit from the seventies, which also happens to be the decade, which has had the main influence on Lars' music as a whole. In that post-hippie era, boots manufactured in Brazil were the biggest fashion item to wear in Denmark. Hence; the curious band-name. But apart from that, the music is not entirely about retro, but also a unique platform for expressing his "brazilian heart" in music, as Lars puts it: " I've always been fascinated by the sound of the language musically, the intricate rhythms and the rich harmonies", he says. "To me brazilian music is the ultimate kind of music in every respect."
BORIS RABINOWITSCH, danish jazz-reviewer, says: " An absolutely appealing release that owns a lightfootedness that carries away the listener ."" De Lamotte proves himself as a marvellous singer with an approach close to that of João Gilberto"--- "The over-all impression of the group is that of a very high performance, where in particular Thorsen excels as a splendid soloist"

Instrumentation features a bit of keyboards settled in alongside acoustic guitar and percussion -- all flowing with a groove that moves from mellow to breezy nicely -- topped with vocals that really fit nicely, and sound almost like some of the male west coast jazz styles from years back. Many tracks are originals -- which makes the album a very nice change from the too-covered bossa classics on other sets -- and there's a solid, unique feel to this set -- one that's confident enough to be gentle!"
