Christiana Uikiza's music and performance often leaves one in the state of disbelief, enchanted by the power and the passion of this nomadic but gentle soul.
Romanian born vocalist, Christiana has a unique voice that covers the range of 7 octaves, including the whistle register, which complements her song-writing abilities perfectly.
Christiana embarked on her musical career as a young girl, starting with a classical violin education at the age of 5, later combined with classical voice-training and the role of lead soloist in choirs, experiences which broadened her musical horizon, making her explore music from all ages and continents.
Her love for different styles of music made her experiment, singing everything from soul to gospel as well as fado, blues and jazz standards with big bands.
As a professional musician she starred in leading roles in musicals in Zagreb, sang French Chanson and played in her own jazz group. Christiana reached the finals of the Croatian version of “Pop Idol†and had a No 1 hit song in the Croatian charts.
Despite this success, Christiana preferred to focus on her artistic side: She started writing music for avant-garde theatre productions, collaborated and performed with many big names of the European jazz scene and finally focused on writing and performing her own lyrics and music.
The multilingual talent (she speakes 6 languages fluently) released her debut album “This time it s different†in April 2008. The album features two songs in her mother tongue and 12 songs in English.
