St. Louis rock'n'roll band, the brainchild of Jeff Hess (ex-Hippies in Flames, Drunkabilly & the UnMutuals and current host of KDHX's "Afternoon Delight"), and Chucklehead Records hitmakers (it is rumored that "I Can't Pretend" was heard several times on KDHX back in the day). The band originally existed 1996-1999, and are about to make a comeback with a new lineup and new attitude in 2007. Watch out world...
THE GEARGRINDERS will be replacing The Honkeys' headlining spot the second night of the upcoming Show-Me Blowout 2-day all-Missouri garage/punk fest here in St. Louis (also on the bill: The Cripplers (STL), The Rich Boys (KC), Thee Fine Lines (Springfield), Monte Carlos (Columbia), Pink Socks (KC), The Von Hodads (KC), The Modern Primitives (Joplin), Left Arm (STL), and The Nevermores (STL). The new lineup just so happens to include three members of The Honkeys (Jason Edge, Exene Cervenka's hubby and also guitarist in The Original Sinners; Micah Edge on organ; and Cullen McGrane on bass) as well as Ben Wah, St. Louis native now living in L.A., who'll be flying in to play. Ben Wah also played with Hippies in Flames (St. Louis/Seattle) and is the current drummer for the Feederz (currently on hiatus) and played with them on their 2002 reunion LP and 2003 tour.
Anyway, it's gonna be huge. If you don't have your tickets yet, you should get them now, because all bets are on that this thing will sell out.
