Most recently named the Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist of the week (28th April-5th May 08) Julez is currently enjoying play on Triple J as well as a number of stations across the country. Born in Melbourne, but raised in an obscure alternative community in regional Queensland, Julez grew up with a wide exposure to music and the arts. At around 16 he began writing and recording his first songs. Moving to Brisbane to study he became involved with the local scene, developing his freestyle skills and earning his stripes by winning a host of battles in combination with performing his first live shows. In 2004 he independently released his debut solo 'The News EP' which was recognized by many as groundbreaking alternative Australian Hip-Hop. This was shortly followed by 'The Sewing Circle Mentality' (with Dragonfly) which also struck a chord with its satirical take on small town life and Australian culture. After touring extensively Julez relocated to Melbourne where he continues to be involved in a series of projects both as a rapper and producer. His follow up solo release 'The Passion Of The Julez' is out now & is the first of four short releases ripping off popular Hollywood films. Forthcoming titles include Frankenjulez, Julez of Denial, & The Family Julez. In addition to this Julez is currently involved in two other projects, specifically the instrumental Hip-Hop outfit Noctambulist and the 'Tall Man Sound System' with Dragonfly, Mech MC, & DJs Sizzle & Affiks. As a consummate live entertainer Julez has performed at a wide variety of events including; Push Over Festival, This Is Not Art, Livid, Woodford Folk Festival, Straight Out of Brisbane, The Sydney Writer’s Festival and The Melbourne & Queensland Poetry Festivals. Notable support roles have included Buck 65, Sage Francis, Murs and Tim Dog.
