About Me

First and foremost I am a stand up comedian. But I also a comedy producer, writer, improviser, and artist. Comedy has always been an outlet for me since I was a kid. I was a middle child (older bro younger sis) so I was always getting blamed for something or being compared to my siblings. I was always getting in trouble and consequently I am the black sheep, even though my sister was a much more troubled child growing up. I was also a runt growing up so I was constantly getting picked on at school, my only defense was to act crazy or silly or goofy to get people to like me and stop pushing me around. For the most part that worked, and I got to hang out with the cool kids because I made them laugh, of course they wouldn't let me hang around with them outside of school though. Eventually I befriended the straightedge kids, which worked well because I wasn't into drugs or drinking, but alas we got in plenty of other sorts of trouble. I kind of became the comic relief for this merry band of social rejects and would lead ding dong ditching, snowball throwing, rabble rousing adventures throught the neighborhood. After high school I seperated myself from all the troublemakers and after floundering through community college for a few years I quit. I decided that I wanted to be a screenwriter, and saw that a lot of actors and directors got started in comedy. So I tried out improv, and eventually in winter of 97 tried stand up. I loved it, and now I am slowly but surely building my comedy resume up before hitting the road. In my fairly short comedy career I have produced over 700 shows, appeared on NBC, BBC, and performed with Doug Stanhope, Mitch Hedberg, and Kevin Meaney among others. I'd still like to be a screenwriter, but all my once original ideas seem to have all been taken in the last few years. In addition to all of that. I also do programs for nature centers on The Snakes of Chicagoland. I hunt for, collect, and photograph wildlife, specifically reptiles and amphibians for educational purposes. It's always been a passion of mine, I grew up near a nature center that was my best friend when everyone else let me down. I have always had a fascination with animals ever since my brother brought home a turtle from the nature center pond when I was about 6 years old. Also, and this is where it gets really weird, I am a medium and theorist for a paranormal research company I co-founded with my friend Jay shortly after I got started in stand up. It's called Supernatural Occurrence Studies Inc. I promise you I'm not crazy, we approach the subject from a very logical and scientific point of view. Basically our standpoint is that there is something out there that makes everyone thinks ghosts exist, but it's probably just a naturally occuring phenomenon however strange that modern science hasn't quite grasped yet.
So thats entirely too much about me. And if you read all that, and you still want to talk to me, we might as well get married.
Dave
