I'm your typical skateboard-riding, stealth gender non-variant, too many book reading, nrrd gone wild ex nun comic. I'm a dorky dyke with a mission, I guess.
Here's what I've got going on these days:
1. This fall/winter I'll be performing in Jacksonville and Fort Myers, Florida, Bear Delaware, Philadelphia, Glenside, PA, Montreal, and of course, New York. These shows are mostly announced on my blog, but for a complete gig list, sign up for my mailing list.
2. Starting in September, I'll once again be co-producing GAYETY. Gayety (motto: comedy just like your mom made, if your mom was really really gay) is the long-running, experimental progressive queer comedy show which has taken place in Philly, Portland OR, and now New York. We'll be having our first New York show at the LGBT center (a non-bar, wheelchair accessible, all ages venue) September 22nd. Gayety is now also a blog, you can queerly yuck it up at gayetyblog.livejournal.com.
3. Then in January, I'll be recording my second comedy CD entitled "Almost Pretty." The CD recording show will be in a very bookish venue. Curious? Stay tuned for more details.
4. I'm working on my fourth (how did that happen?) book, a fun, funny body guide for girls age 8-12. The companion book--called _The Boy's Body Book: Everything You Need to Know for Growing Up YOU_ (Applesauce Press, 2007) came out in mid-July. The third edition of _How to Survive and Maybe Even Love Nursing School_ (FA Davis 2004) is slated for publication in January 2008. And of course there's always _How to Survive and Maybe Even Love Life as a Nurse_also published by FA Davis.
6. Finally I'm currently planning a "I was born in a small town" tour. I'm looking for venues in small towns and rural areas across the US and Canada. Under normal circumstances I couldn't afford to travel to these smaller places, but I'll be getting around with an Amtrak trail pass and good ol' Greyhound. I'm offering to do shows under a "free will offering" system like an old time traveling preacher, people just have to feed me, give me a place to crash and--if possible-- show me around their awesome town. So...venues...hosts...corporate or nonprofit sponsors, email me! I am planning the trip for next spring, probably April 1-May 15th.
