Music:

i LOVE music. i'll listen to and enjoy pretty much everything except sexist/racist/homophobic or otherwise hate driven music of any genre. A sampling of my current frequently played: lila downs, nedra johnson, damegoodz, led zepplin, candye kane, michael franti, hotel costes 6, the gotan project, koko taylor, manu chao, judea eden, bette davis, doria roberts, the gossip, zap mama, nikka costa, the doors, eartha kitt, mitzi cowell, bessie smith, laura love, jill scott, janis joplin, wanda jackson ...

Movies:

i'm all about the animation ... disney stories don't really work for me, but i love to check out the techniques and improvments in craft, and independant animation makes me really happy. most recently seen and enjoyed movies: 'cars', 'v for vendetta' and 'the notorious betty paige'

Television:

only on dvd - our tv is for videos and games only, though i do love me some pbs (yay sesame street!). that said: six feet under, dead like me, stargate, sopranos, carnivale, home movies, power puff girls ... yep, weirdo me.

Books:

i heart books! top 3 fav writers: octavia butler, sherri s. tepper, jo clayton. purposeful sci-fi/fantasy (ie: social commentary, 'what if' stories, human nature exploration ...) is my fav genre, but i also like fiction, non fiction, essays, poetry ... words, even when completely inadequate, are fascinating to me.

Heroes:

i look up to and admire (but don't put on a pedestal): the women of my family, blood and chosen, my beloved, heather macallister, annie sprinkle, candye kane, whoopi, dorothy allison, cecilia tan, joan nestle, minnie bruce pratt, chrystos, audre lorde, jewelle gomez, octavia butler, hanne blank, and so many more ...
