the music plays the band... - Grateful Dead

About Me

I'm a musician first and foremost. Guitar player, singer-songwriter, composer, performer, teacher, and eternal student of life and music. I live and work in Nashville and am thankful every day to be surrounded by driven, talented people that remind me over and over again to raise the bar another step higher.
I teach guitar, piano, and voice, coach singer-songwriters and aspiring young artists, and offer performance workshops both in Nashville and on the road for organizations like NSAI, the Songwriters Guild, and Tennessee Songwriters Association. I'm currently writing regular columns for the Nashville Muse and Songwriters E-Tip online newsletters and am working on a book and DVD on rhythm in songwriting.
I play constantly around Nashville on my own as a soloist, as a freelance picker for hire, and as a duo with the phenomenal Briana Hardyman as Good Souls . I have the pleasure and privilege of working with some of the best musicians and songwriters on the planet, many of whom are listed here on my top friends. Please visit them, listen to their music and go to their shows. Mine too, while you're at it.

NSAI is a fantastic organization and an invaluable resource for songwriters. I teach workshops at the main headquarters here in Nashville, on the road for the regional chapters, and for the fall SongPosium conference. I'm also a proud member and wholehearted supporter.

Nashville Independent Music is the place to go to find discs and downloads from some of my amazingly talented friends, even the ones I haven't met yet.

My 2006 EP Old King Crow. If you're a fan of guitar and jam band music, check it out....Cream meets the Grateful Dead.
