Everything that's worthwhile has a growing pain.

About Me

Some may say the "music gene" is a curse, but Megan Linville chose to view it as a blessing by following in the footsteps of many generations of family musicians, performers and songwriters. Born and raised in the rolling hillside country, north of Nashville, Tennessee, Megan somehow always knew that she, too, would walk the path that many of her ancestors had walked.
Her deep-rooted love of music can be traced back several years to her great, great, great, great grandfather (many "great grandfathers" ago), noted hymn composer Jonathon Edwards. Several generations of hymn writers, singers, performers, and probably a few snake oil sellers came and went. Megan's great grandfather, Samuel Lewis McBee, was a Vaudeville performer, performing with the likes of Bing Crosby and Bob Hope and with his band, The Radio Serenaders, played the first live music aired on radio in Alabama. Megan's grandfather, Jerry McBee, was a noted Nashville singer/songwriter who wrote many songs for Nashville's country stars throughout several decades of his career.
After arriving on the scene, it took Megan only five short years to begin performing in every talent show, county celebration, musical, play, piano recital and wedding solo that she could find. This obsession was really no great surprise to her family and closest friends.

During high school Megan began focusing on a career in Nashville's country music industry. She entered a Nashville-based vocal/performance competition and finished as a finalist, barely being edged out of first place by one of Nashville's career music veterans. To some this experience might have been disheartening, but to Megan it was like pouring gasoline on a flame. Megan went on to serve as a "mic girl" for a music seminar series, was filmed for the pilot of a Nashville music television series and was chosen to be interviewed on the CMT red carpet.
It was during this time that she also began writing with some talented Nashville songwriters and began building a catalog of songs that identified her sassy, up-tempo, female-empowering and fun, country style. She began performing writer's nights and began showcasing with a band at various venues around Music City. She also continued honing her craft with some of Nashville's top performance coaches and vocal coaches, singing extensively in the studio, taking tons of guitar lessons, all the while never forgetting that if you ever stop growing you must be dead.
Thus far, the most thrilling part of this journey has been the process of recording her inaugural CD under the production of the multi-talented John Carter Cash. The musicians that John Carter selected for Megan's album were among Nashville's finest with Jamie Hartford on electric guitar, Robby Turner on steel guitar, Dave Isaacs on acoustic guitar, Charlie Chadwick on bass, Rick Lonow on drums, Laura Cash on fiddle, Tony Harrell on piano and John Wesley Ryles singing background vocals; for Megan, the entire project was electrifying. She could only describe the experience as "surreal, exciting and one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. The rush of recording at the famed Cash Cabin Studio and actually singing into the microphone that the Man in Black recorded on was a very powerful and humbling experience," said Megan. Working with John Carter Cash was truly a milestone endeavor for this young performer. She stated that she could not have hoped for a better outcome and felt that the musicians really understood the vibe of her music. The finished product is one that identifies who she is and what she is about musically.
Since recording her CD, Megan has continued to dig deep into the music industry by writing with some of Nashville's most talented songwriters on a frequent basis. She has been featured in several publications including the fourth most popular country music review site, CountryStarsOnline.com, where several of country music's most popular newcomers have been recognized. Megan continues to hone her guitar and songwriting skills while never forgetting the most important pieces of life's puzzle. She has always been one to appreciate her past and those who have helped her along the way.
Each leg of this journey is exciting but requires a lot of hard work and professional diligence. However, "If the good Lord's willing and the creek don't rise," Megan believes that you'll be hearing a lot more of her in the future. A heartfelt invitation is extended for you to drop by her website and visit her myspace page frequently. Like an old friend, you are always welcome.
