About Me

"Each of us is a vital thread in another person's tapestry;
our lives are woven together for a reason." Sarah Bernhardt

I have been a journalist and PR person for many years (as a civilian and in the military). I have been married to a career soldier for twenty-three of those years and my husband is still on active duty and doesn't plan on retiring any time soon. Working on the WWW is the perfect job for a military spouse since my computer is my office. Each time my husband comes down on PCS orders, I grab my briefcase, pack up my "office" and I'm ready to move!I have learned that the only true legacy is the memory you leave behind and the only true measure of wealth is the sum total of what you give away; not what you accumulate. To that end, I give freely of my material possessions but, more importantly, I also give freely of my heart. My life goal is that every person I meet, whether for a few seconds or many years, will benefit from the encounter.Life is so much easier when you finally realize that just by putting a little extra in front of ordinary, it isn't all that difficult to be extraordinary. Keepin' it country, cheryl

I have a site dedicated to the military family. I hope you will stop by.

Coming home from war.I heard the sound of Taps one night, when everything was still. I listened to the bugler play and felt a sudden chill. I wondered just how many times that Taps had meant "Amen," when a flag had draped a coffin of a brother or a friend. I thought of all the children, of the mothers and the wives, of fathers, sons and husbands with interrupted lives. I thought about a graveyard at the bottom of the sea of unmarked graves in Arlington. No, freedom isn't free.

If you haven't heard Cowboy Crush on your radio station, please call and request them. They are amazing and their hearts are as big as their talent. You can listen to their other songs on their official website and you can go to CSO and read several articles on this dynamic, talented, and beautiful, group. You can watch one of their videos, "He's Coming Home," below. This video was created by the Department of Army. I hope you will take a few minutes to watch this video. It puts a very human face on the American soldiers and their families.

My Interests

All music ... travel ... golf (I love Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk) and the military ; I am an Army veteran who is married to a career soldier.
Since I am a longtime fan of country music, I consider myself to be truly fortunate to be the Senior Staff Journalist and Editor of CSO . Jim Weaver, our founder and fearless leader, is amazing and all of the folks I work with are so incredibly talented.

I'd like to meet:

Below are some of my favorite artists; a few that I've been fortunate to work with and a few others that I'd like to. Just hold your cursor over their photo to see their names and click on the photos to go to their official myspaces.

Music:

I enjoy all music but I have worked, for more than a decade, in the country music industry as a feature writer, album reviewer and publicist. I love it. My greatest (and most memorable) discovery, to date, was Joe Nichols - we met him long before he got his current record deal and I worked with him until he moved to Nashville. He is a most delightful human being and he remains a very special friend to both me and my husband.

IFCO celebrates their 40th anniversary this year!
Congratulations Loudilla, Loretta and Kay!

2007 ACM Nominee for

Books:

"The Missing Piece and the Big O" by Shel Silverstein

All military members AND their families and all the dreamers of the world; many who have proven by their eventual success that it is okay to be a believer.

Hello God, I called tonight to talk a little while. I need a friend who'll listen to my anxiety and trial. You see, I can't quite make it through a day just on my own; I need your love to guide me, so I'll never feel alone. I want to ask you please to keep my loved ones safe and sound. Come and fill their lives with confidence for whatever fate they're bound. Give me faith, dear God, to face each hour throughout the day; and not to worry over things I can't change in any way. I thank you God, for being home and listening to my call; for giving me such good advice when I stumble and I fall. Your number, God, is the only one that answers every time. I never get a busy signal, never pay a dime. So thank you,God, for listening to my troubles and my sorrow. Good night, dear God, I love You, too, I'll call again tomorrow. author unknown
