The "Red Ribbon" ("Czerwona Wstazka") is a kind of Programme for Prevention of HIV/AIDS and Other Sexually Transmitted Diseases in West Poland. We're not doctors or "wise huge heads"...We're just students group (Amelia, Tomek and Szymon) and we want to do something useful for this crazy world and that's why we created this profil also here (we've created about 50 profiles in internet sites, blogs and portals).
In our work we use mainly the technique of "internetwork" but of course not only...our "people" work also in the places, where sex-workers work, in clubs, parks, on railway stations, on highways and border-crossings.
Practicular aims of our work are: informing about HIV and STI, co-operation with social groups riskily behaving in context of HIV and STI infection, popularization of safer sex, informing about possibilities of free HIVtesting (in Poland), creating of psychosocial support groups for riskily bahaving people, co-operation with organizations, foundations, institutions and other non-formal groups, which are realizing targets similar to the Program, orgnization of meetings with organizations, associations and other formations which are able to act or are alredy acting...in the field of HIV/AIDS prophylaxis and naturally diminshing of anxiety level of both infected and healthy individuals.
Methods of work within the "Czerwona Wstazka" Program are as follows: informing about STD and safer sex methods (in schools, non-formal groups, universities), we're students of counselling so we're also providing social counselling and providing advice concering social seciurity, legal status of sex-workers, victims of violence and trading of woman.
