Danielle Freeman - Singer, orgainc that is!

About Me

Hi there. You can get more information about me from www.daniellefreeman.com. I am a singer primarily focused, but unlimited, within the opera field. I have most recently performed contemporary operas that have a challenging bite and a bold political platform. I enjoy the "newness" of them as their characters are not part of a traditional performance, yet are totally available for exploration and creative interpretation. As well, I also enjoy singing standard literature. I have sung with Opera Company of Philadelphia in their production of Margaret Garner, libretto written by Toni Morrison, with Denyce Graves and Angela Brown. I was also featured in OCP's production of Porgy and Bess. I had a great time performing the ragtime opera,Treemonisha, by Scott Joplin with Paragon Ragtime Orchestra under the direction of Richard Benjamin. I have performed with New York's regional opera company, Dicapo Opera Theater, in their productions of Claudia Legare, La Boheme, and La Traviata. I performed the title role of Carmen for the Dicapo children's opera outreach program. (Had lots of fun, I must be Carmen again). I have performed with Beth Morrison Productions in the video-stream opera, Hell, at the avant-garde performance space PS122. I have worked with video technician, Peter Flaherty, directors, David Chambers, Kenneth Leon, Robert Driver, Michael Capasso, and Lawrence Edelson and Peter Ash. :)
