About Me

Dominic Lalli grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. He began studying music in middle school and high school with great support from his musical family. After high school, Dominic decided to continue his music education at Northern Arizona University. There, Dominic began a more focused study of jazz and classical music. He also began to hone his skills playing weekly trio gigs with world renowned bassist Joel Dibartolo (Tonight Show Band, Buddy Rich, Carmen McCrae) and, now, Chicago-based drummer Frank Rosaly, which helped him begin his further explorations into the jazz world. In 2001 Dominic received a scholarship to study music at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where he completed his Masters degree in Music. There, Dominic studied with the likes of Dave Leibman, Bob Mintzer, Dick Oatts, Kenny Barron, Garry Dial and many other greats. There, he began to find his own sound and his own approach to music. While in New York, Dominic had the opportunity to share the stage with many amazing artists such as Dave Leibman, Kenny Barron, Stefon Harris, Bob Mintzer, Dick Oatts, Jeff Tain Watts and Christian McBride to name a few. While in New York, Dominic connected with the well-established groove outfit, The Motet, from Boulder, Colorado.Since joining the Motet, Dominic made his move back west to the Denver, CO area and has traveled all over the US performing at various clubs, theatres and festivals, spreading his creative sound and approach to music. Since being in Denver Dominic has performed with many amazing artists from many genres and styles of music such as Christian McBride, Ron Miles (Bill Frisell), Peter Eldridge (NY Voices), Mark Whitfield, Pat Bianchi, Jon Fishman (Phish), The String Cheese Incident, Karl Denson, Robert Walter, Jeff Coffin, Jeff Sipe (ARU), Fahreed Haque, Count Bass D and Umphrey’s McGee to name a few.Dominic’s fresh sound and creative approach to all music he encounters offers an exciting look into what is to come for this young lion. Dominic is finishing his debut solo recording, which offers 9 songs, 6 original compositions and 3 standards, featuring Ron Miles (cornet), Greg Gizbert (trumpet), Rudy Royston (drums), Eric Gunnison (piano) and Bijoux Barbosa (bass) and will be released in mid 2008
