About Me

ANALOG/MONOLOG NOW AVAILABLE FROM THE APPLE ITUNES STORE!!! CLICK HERE: ..
"Well crafted grooves with a lot of soul...Scott Sharrard is one of the best blue eyed soul singers we've heard in years."
-Dusty Groove America (dustygrooves.com)
“Imagine the Soulful, Funky, Rock of Prince and Lenny Kravitz combined with the confessional ballads of Coldplay and fused with the virtuosic guitar styles of Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton, and you’ll start to understand the sonic landscape that is the music of Scott Sharrard.”
-Putnam County News, NY
"One of the best young guitar players to come out in years."
-The Paper
"Sharrard is the next Eric Clapton or Mike Bloomfield."
-Indianapolis Star Tribune
"Sharrard is an incredible lead vocalist and guitarist."
-Ron Scott, NY. Amsterdam News
"One of the best guitarists in the country... danceable soul grooves that support a lyrical journey."
-Larry Flick, Billboard Magazine
“I don’t know which genre I love him more-blues, rock, soul or pop…he sounds an accomplished star in any of them. Scott Sharrard is one of those few who remind us there’s only one “genre”- the Music.”
-Paul Bondarovski, Midnight Special Blues Radio
"Sharrard's slide work evoked the Allmans' signature sound, his playing was multifaceted, incorporating subtle volume swells, Memphis-tinged double stops and classic B.B. King licks."
-Mike Joyce, The Washington Post
"Scott Sharrard, guitarist for Gregg Allman's band is not only that, he is also an excellent songwriter and singer, in a genre that a little out of the expectations, not southern rock, but more soul, a lot of soul .. and blues....he combines his strong soulful voice with delicious guitar with a strong bluesy slant"
-Rootstime
It all started around the age of 10 when my parents took me to a theater to see The Monterey Pop Festival documentary/concert film...all I remember is the full blast of Jimi Hendrix and Otis Redding, ever since then I've strived to make music that embodies that type of universal Soul and to inhabit that realm of transcendence where style is just a palate of colors.
I've been a professional guitarist/singer and songwriter since I was a teenager and I've had the honor of performing and recording with many artists over the years including: Buddy Miles, Gregg Allman, The Allman Brothers, Levon Helm, Jay Collins, Melvin Rhyne, Marshall Crenshaw, Brian Charette, Katy Pfaffl, Charlie Drayton, Shawn Pelton, Kelly Hunt, Jennifer Johns and many others.
I started out back in 2001 with my first band, The Chesterfields, we independently released 2 albums, toured parts of the U.S. and recieved some great support from people like Ahmet Ertegun, Rob Thomas, Russ Titlemen and Dr. John.
In 2004 I went solo and released my first album, "Dawnbreaker", which was produced with and engineered by my friend Charlie Martinez (Keith Richards, Rob Thomas, among many others). I played most of the instruments on that one (with some help from the incredible Charlie Drayton on drums and Charlie Martinez on bass on a couple cuts).
In 2007 I released my sophomore solo album, "Analog/Monolog" again with Charlie Martinez producing/engineering. This time I had Shawn Pelton (Sheryl Crow, SNL band among others) holding down the drum chair and my good friends Brian Charette (Joni Mitchell, Roy Hargrove, David Hidalgo) on B-3 organ and Jay Collins (Horns for The Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman, Levon Helm) on horns.
2008 was an incredible year, I formed the Scott Sharrard Band and we recorded a Live in the studio record titled "AnteUp" (2009). I sat in with The Allman Brothers Band (which was recorded as part of a live release) and then joined Gregg Allman & Friends as their new guitarist. You can also find me playing with my main man Jay Collins and his Kings County Band all over NYC on a regular basis (check out his new record "Songbird & The Pigeon").
I love music and thats why I make records...some people tell me to write "hits", others think I'm on the right track with an "original sound" some people think both. All I can say is that this is pure, unfiltered and honest music that was forged from the depths of my soul (with no shortage of blood sweat and tears) for your enjoyment and not in some corporate board room for specific demographics and wide profit margins. This is the digital realm now so feel free to tell me what you think, check out my clips and mp3's, if you like it please buy it and don't forget to check out my live shows. In the meantime thanks for checking out this page and I will do my best to keep spreading original music, I hope you do the same!
Keep a light in the window,
