I started playing with my Mum's acoustic that she used to play and teach people to play guitar with then my Grandmother gave me her electric Hawaiin Slide guitar and Moody amplifier . That's when I fell in love.
Wayne { Waina named after my Grandad from Finland } Cowan has played in many original and cover bands in Australia for years . I payed my dues at an early age..eheh.. and I toured a large part of N.S.W. and Queensland with talented musicians Some of the early bands I played with that I remember are Black Knight , Arnhem , Piktures, Slice , Jim Finn , Mirage , Mary Jane Boyd , Geoff Bullock , Mike Carr John Jarratt { the actor, singer }, Zee Bazaar , Chillum , I played in a band with a veteran English drummer Rod Palmer who played with musicians that played with Jimi Hendrix ! .. so close .. haha . There are more bands and musicians but it would be hard to list them all. I was also in bands that opened the show for groups such as The Angels , JoJo Zep , Ayers Rock , Midnight Oil , Jeff St.John , Goldrush {Emmanuel Bros} Ol' 55 , Taman Shud , Wasted Daze , Dennis Wilson , Mi-Sex , The Reels , Spy Vs Spy Screaming Jets and more .
I worked as a roadie for some famous artists .. that's when I was fit !
I have recorded in studios with bands and artists such as A.T.A. with the legendary and gentle Duncan Macguire EMI 301, CBS , A.B.C. Tin Pan Alley with the wonderful Steve Penning , A&M producer Jeff St.John , Atlantic , Video Lab , NuTown Studios , Mark Worrell , Emerald City , Geoff Baker , Damien Gerard , Wirra Willa , S.A.E. There's more but i'll add 'em later .. when I remeber .. eheh .
Another one of my main passions is that I love animals as you can see in my photos and slide show and I have cared for injured native wildlife.
