A good friend once said.in my last few weeks of high school, my mum told me that my friends and I
would move on and not see each other anymore as we all got jobs or went off to uni
. And as much as I protested, she insisted that it was just the way it was. So as we sat
our final few exams, I braced myself for what I was told would be one last summer of
good times.Three years later I'm sitting on the hand rail of our cabin balcony up at Port Macquarie,
screaming the words to 'Time Of Your Life' with 15 of my best mates. And it's at this
moment I stop, and look at the smiles on all faces, our arms round each other, and I
think how proud I am of our friendship. We have defied what everyone said about us.
Sure, we all got jobs and went off to uni, but the same bonds we formed in the school
playground made sure we still made time for each other now. And I'm certain now that
in ten, fifteen, even twenty years, as we start families and get careers, our friendship
will be as strong as ever.So, in the three years that have passed since my mum's death knell on our friendship, I
remember back to all the good times we've had: the countless poker nights, jumping
20 metres off St. Huberts Island bridge, left at the Beachcomber at three in the morning
in the middle of winter with nothing but a t-shirt on, the parties, the beach, the
nightclubs, and of course, the Port tripsby MctavA little about me...
im really all about fun, friends & family.
