Megan Sloane Linville was born in the rolling hillside country north of Nashville. The country is not just a place where she has grown up; it has truly grown in her. Her southern roots run so deep that upon meeting Megan, you can see that she lives and breathes country.
Megan has been riding horses since she was three years old, once becoming so comfortable on her paint pony that he nearly fell asleep with her on his back. He stopped walking and began to roll in the soft dirt, forgetting that she was still in the saddle. As the grace of God would have it, Megan was able to step right out of the saddle, never even getting her boots dusty, just in time to avoid being rolled on by old Buckwheat.
There’s some truth in the saying that “the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree;†well, at least in Megan’s case the old adage appears to be true. Her great grandfather, Samuel Lewis McBee, was a Vaudeville performer, touring with the likes of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. Her grandfather, Jerry McBee, was a singer/songwriter who wrote for several talented artists including Roy Orbison, Charlie Pride, Billy Walker, Ray Price and Eddy Arnold. The door of opportunity that her family opened has greatly inspired Megan.
As a five year old she belted out her first wedding solo, “The Theme from Love Story,†in front of 250 people, never missing a beat. Several more years of performing in weddings, talent shows and musicals, not to mention singing to everything and everyone that would listen, confirmed what she had known all along – she loved to entertain.
To this day, Megan’s dedication to her career is apparent in everything she does. "My inner voice was always telling me that I was going to choose this, even from a very early age," she said. "When I graduated high school I put my total focus into my music career; I have my blinders on and am focusing straight ahead." Megan took private piano lessons for many years and although she took up guitar to aid in songwriting not too long ago, her skills are already quite impressive.
In August of 2007 Megan recorded an album at the historical Cash Cabin Studio with Grammy Award winning producer John Carter Cash, the only son of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Regarding this album, Gone Country Magazine wrote “Her honky tonk, boogie-woogie style that's steeped deep in tradition, combined with enough pop sensibilities, will attract mainstream listeners while keeping her country roots intact.â€
Megan organized and participated in the first annual Cystic Fibrosis Benefit Pickin' Party held just outside of Nashville in the fall of 2007. Her songs are continuously showcased on multiple radio stations including Yarra Valley FM 99.1 in Melbourne, Australia, MD-MCWC Radio of Mora, Sweden, the largest country radio station in the country, The Thomas Miller Show in California and Unsigned Musicians Internet Radio. Megan was chosen for "Featured Artist of the Week" in January 2008 and is a favorite on CountryStarsOnline, the fourth most popular country music review site in the world and EXPOSURE, a MySpace page dedicated to making sure talented people on the popular networking site don't go unrecognized. She was chosen to be included in the New Country Star Favorite Female Vocalist contest in May and has album reviews on Gone Country Magazine and Nashville Country Club.
These days, you can most likely find Megan strumming her guitar or perfecting her songwriting skills with other talented Nashville singers and songwriters. There’s no better way for her to spend a lazy afternoon than shopping at Smack, Posh and Serendipity, ordering a Starbucks grande Vanilla Caramel Frappuccino, as well as getting a pedicure and having her toenails painted the latest rage of black or fluorescent pink.
The very most endearing facet of Megan’s life is her deep love of people. She never carries a grudge, she is always quick to forgive and is always mindful of impacting the lives of those she meets. One of her greatest goals is to use her music to brighten others’ lives. She strives to help other people and is quick to speak on an issue that is near and dear to her heart, the search for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Her cousin Dane was born with CF; Megan takes advantage of every opportunity to use her voice to make others aware of the importance and urgency of conquering CF.
Throughout her music career, Megan hopes to stay true to her country roots and keep her audiences entertained. This singer/songwriter, who is proud of her heritage, has a powerful voice that she uses to "deliver a power-packed performance" every time
