Eric Michael Hopper began his musical journey at the age of six when he discovered the keys of a piano. From there, he never looked back. Growing up in Western Pennsylvania, Eric's experiences would inevitably find themselves embedded in song. Over the years, he became the frontman and writer for several bands, where he began playing guitar. This would add a dynamic and certain versatility to his songwriting approach. He has spent decades working toward making music for a living and crafting hearfelt songs about his journey along the way. His recently released solo album entitled Eric Michael Hopper "Cross Over" is continuing to be embraced with worldwide public support. The inspiration for this record is mirrored in every song by his true-life struggle and journey. This journey has taken him from humble small town beginnings, to making his national television debut on the CBS Early Show as a result of the thousands of fans that have embraced him on the web. In 2006 he consistently maintained the 1 most viewed pages on the myspace country music chart for over a year, topping over 22,000 artists. At one point he reached the 10 most viewed music pages of 1.3 million artists of all genres worldwide. He has created an amazing success story through the power of the internet to syndicate his music, to the extent that he has been referred to by FOX television hosts as "a working stiff become cyberspace superstar". This success he has found through his online fans and friends has prompted his movement into the mainstream media.
Eric has recently made appearances on the CBS Early Show, FOX Good Day, and NBC's Daytime. He was also recently featured on the front page of Yahoo.com. His video for Love at First Sight aired in 11 million comcast digital cable subscriber homes in March 07. Eric is the only true independent to be recognized with an artist page on CMT.com. He has 2 videos which have run on CMT Loaded. Eric Michael Hopper plays and is sponsored by PRS Guitars, Takamine, Dean Markley, among others.
...Ok so that was my "Professional" bio. For those who are wondering, I run my own myspace.
As long as I can remember, Ive always been drawn to creating music. Ive been doing this my whole
life hoping for the opportunity for people to share this thing thats been calling me. Finally, myspace
and the internet happened like a Godsend. I feel so happy and blessed to have the support of good
people like yourselves on here. I used to have dreams of the big time, stars in my eyes and all that
stuff, but you know ... I feel Ive finally found what Ive been looking for. Affirmation. Affirmation and the
connection between myself and you all who love music. I am finally beginning to feel satisfied. Satisfied
by the opportunity for you all to simply say yes we get it and enjoy it or even no, give it up. But at least
feel as though Ive had that chance, and thats enough for me. I dont care about fame and all that, I just
hope to be able to make an honest living at this. I guess notoriety is tied into all that though. I work hard
at whatever I set my mind to. I hope I can make this work, its been such a huge thing in my life for so long.
Other stuff...
I enjoy philosophy and physics, things that make you think. That gets on alot of peoples nerves though
when I get into that lol. I love epic stories that depict courage and inspire hope for an ideal. I consider
myself a reasonable person, although I am not afraid to do whats necessary. Lets leave it at that.
Im a kid that grew up playing piano and decided I was gonna be what I wanted, and wanted respect
at the same time. Thats hard to get when your young, for kids that want to draw and play piano lol.
So I kept myself in shape as well. I had this mind, body and spirit thing going on...
Im definitely more laid back now though. So out of that came the other side of me I guess...
Im a huge football fan. I love the outdoors and beer. Camping, picnics...
man thats what its all about. I swim laps at an olympic pool to stay in shape. Im a pretty simple guy as
far as lifestyle goes. I dont need alot, but hey Im grateful for it when I have it. Im working on a new
song and I think this opening line kinda says how I been feeling in general these days:
Sleep easy, Im gonna find our place...
An open sky home, built on faith.
Sleep easy, Im gonna find our way...
With an open heart beating all on grace...
I hope you like my songs,
Eric
