Jamboree happens once a month (every second thursday) at the Klondyke Bowls Club, Burnage Range, Levenshulme. It occasionally happens at other times & in other places in Manchester too, but we keep that a secret.
Things that we like:
anti-folk, experimental noise, indie-pop, DIY & lo-fi stuff, spontaneous art, poetry, djing, short films & animations, homemade cakes, collaborative happenings, displays of artwork, people doing stuff and making noise.....
Biscuits may be available if you are there before they get eaten. If you want to be involved then drop us a myspace message or email [email protected]
We are always looking for new people to perform so don't hesitate. Also if you are an artist, filmaker or anything else and would like the opportunity to show your work then please get in touch.

Beards // Monster Island // Pleasure Drenching Improvers // Cookie Cutterr
Beards are a Leeds 3 piece hailed by plan B as 'one of the best support acts of 2007', playing off-kilter and jittery 'psych wonk pop'. Support comes from Monster Island, reminiscent of early sonic youth and according to manchester music, 'pioneers of something altogether strange, but different'! Also features improv duo ' Pleasure Drenching improvers', and local anti-folk duo 'Cookie Cutterr', plus short stories from Emily Mcphillips.
Also features noise session (bring an instrument!), DJ's and more.
8pm Saturday May 24 at Islington Mill, James Street, Salford:
The Television Personalities
'Singing songs about Syd Barrett and sounding like overexcited school children playing Jonathan Richman covers, The Television Personalities were always a band that would find it hard to fit in. After hearing 'Part Time Punks' for the first time you'd either rush out
and buy yourself a guitar or you'd never listen to music again. Their first album, 'And Don't The kids Just Love It', epitomised the
late 70's DIY punk attitude with a simplicity and directness that revealed Dan Treacy as a writer of fragile, idiosyncratic and deeply
personal songs, providing a focus for the rest of the TVPS output. By some they are considered the first point of reference for a music
which has become labelled as 'twee', but from the darker psychedelic leanings of 'The Painted Word' to the delicate melancholy of new single
'The Good Anarchist', it seems that Dan was always trying to write the perfect pop song, and who am I to disagree?
This, a rare Manchester date for the TVPS, will see them with their current line-up of: Dan Treacy (Guitar/ Vocals), Texas Bob Juarez (Guitar), Mike Stone (Bass) and Kev Mann (Drums). Support comes from shouty sci-fi surf popsters the Container Drivers and the short, sharp jangle-pop of Amida ! Tickets are available here: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/29308
