Joni Mitchell was a huge one, and Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston, Judy Collins, Carole King, The Carpenters, Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield, Barbra Streisand when i was 9 years old was my hero :) plus SO MANY,MANY MORE GREATS men, women, pets :) !!! And i love so many genres of music ! Classical, folk, jazz, world, it all has a place in my heart !!! Personally I also sang in Key West, Florida in jazzjams with my late but great friend NYC saxophonist Jeff Hittman, in the mid-80's, when he had his quartet with Kenny Drew, Jr. on keyboards, Cody Moffat on drums, and Will Woodard on bass. The jams were a great way to get everyone out and performing. I have loved singing all my life and first sang in public when i was 3 and sang in church, growing up in Georgia and also church choirs and school choruses growing up and then Up With People chapter in South Florida when i moved to Key West in 1968 and on and on singing my 3 children thru their lives and now they sing too ! I took classical piano for almost 10 years and do not accompany myself, i sing better with a band/accompaniment and enjoy accappella singing and Harmony.
