Um, hi. I'm Josh "Strange" Powers. I'm a DJ of 14 years, a voice actor, producer, musician, circuit bending freak, comedian, non-comedian, quantum mechanic, decent dancer and make one hell of a rhubarb pie. Ok, everything but the pie. I've never even had rhubarb pie. I'd like to learn to surf one day. I believe in a oneness, and in the energy that binds us all. I've seen tons of crazy wild stuff like U.F.O's and Politics. I've been so deep inside of myself that I became lost. Finding yourself isn't a walk in the park. When I finally found my way again I realized that until you follow your heart, your dreams are pure fantasy. Not attempting to live your dreams is simply living for the machine. I have an album out on Broken Beaker Records called The Dig. You can find it here.
Please visit my other pages as there isn't enough room on this one page to show you all the music i want to.

BIO:
A surviver of the great industry asteroid that tried to destroy the true art of musical expression, Strange Powers walks heavily through the corporate wasteland, clinging with every dedicated breath to his own musical pieces despite being in the shadow of the post-popalyptic environment that remains.
All though genre-jumping has been a pitfall of many, like other artists of this nature it has also shaped Strange Powers into what he is today. His recent release “The Dig” which is a culmination spanning 5 years of musical soul searching, is the first and only of its kind. Just when the listener relaxes into a sense of calm contingency, a sonic quantum leap emerges through an ever changing wormhole that is the theme of this album. The result is a magical shifting of dimensions with a surprising air of chaotic consistency. Existereo of The Shape Shifters L.A. recently left these comments about listening to the album on tour: “honestly we were really impressed with your record...I kept thinkin’ someone changed the CD in the van cause one song from the next had its own style and was very, very good. I kept asking from the back, what is this? or who are we listening to?....and I’d hear it’s the Strange Powers album still”
Born in a small unknown town on the border of Texas and Oklahoma, Strange Powers was raised in a house with a “Music Room” since before birth. His mother Candice Powers was a stellar gigging musician and song writer at the age of 14. She played countless shows with a developing Mr. Powers sitting comfortably in the security of her womb. Strange had a musical ear before he could say musical ear. He was heavily influenced by folk, country, jazz, rock, rap and even psychedelic music, writing tunes on multiple instruments by age 9. The multi-genre, self proclaimed weirdo recently opened for Dr. Octagon (aka Kool Keith) at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, one of Denver’s largest indoor venues, wearing an alien-robot-bunny suit and pelting out solid rhythms on his trusty MPC2000xl.
Having opened for artists like Kool Keith, The Shape Shifters, Why? Themselves, Josh Martinez, Digital Underground, C+Knowledge, DJ, Swamp, Mark Farina, Busdriver, Astronautilis, Bleubird, Jeremy Sole’s Musaics and more, Strange Powers knows how to get in where he fits. He sounds like a Hip Hop Frank Zappa, switching genre’s like a mixture of Ween and Beck with a splash of a techno Jimmy Buffet. It’s hard to define or even explain the realms that the Strange Powers space craft visits, what is easy to say however, is you can count on being pleasantly surprised.
