Great song...great version.
Great song...great version.
Music...oh yeah, beautiful people with good hearts. Helping pass the torch, so to speak, by giving advice to those who want to pursue a career in music. I have been blessed to work and meet so many people in this business and hope to see others enjoy their career, as I have.
I have met my heroes...Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry, Jeff Beck, Ike Turner, Muddy Waters, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Vince Gill, and Jimmy Rogers(Muddy's guitar player). Met Jimi Hendrix months before he hit the charts with ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? Not really anyone that I want to meet, especially politicians...they talk a good game but just are really good thieves, lol. I hope to meet some of the people that I have met on-line here and hear their music firsthand. I would love to get one shot at playing with Leon Russell...that would be too cool.
Still love the greats...Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton. Being in Memphis, the blues is always around and the immortal Robert Johnson is my favorite along with Muddy Waters, who was a kind, generous man that I met several times. Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, and Keith Urban are my country guys. Guitarwise...Django Reindhart was great. George Ducas is a new one to my list...good guy, similar influences, and a ton of talent. Well worth checking out.
Comedy...love to laugh. Wedding Crashers was all too real to me, lol. I still love to see GIMME SHELTER with the Stones from their 69 tour. Anything with Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro is worth the watch. Since Steven Seagall has moved here, I have been watching his action flicks...he is a cool guy and fair guitar player.
MSNBC for news...love Keith Olberman and Chris Matthews. LAW & ORDER, CRIMINAL MINDS, and University of Memphis basketball games and football...GO TIGERS!
Political books...especially Iraq war. Hunter S. Thompson's FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS is still funny after years of reading it again and again.
Keith Richards and Eric Clapton...never too old to get it done onstage...I miss Sam Phillips and Estelle Axton. I miss Ike Turner and his stories...Jimmy Hart was a huge influence and mentor for me...we had some great times back in the 70's, lol. My old pal, Jeff Beck, is another who I admire...great player. I wish that I could have recorded with Tom Dowd before he passed away. His work on LAYLA still makes me weep at times even after thirty five years. I also have to give props to a former bandmate of mine...Trey Bruce. He is a gifted writer and producer who has had #1 hits and awards. I am tremendously proud of him and hope you will check out on my Top Friends several of his acts...Kingbilly, Kree, and Chris Janson.
