A native of Bologna, Italy, Rita began piano studies at seven years old. From the ages 12 to 17 she also acted in theatre productions at the Tivoli Theatre, receiving a diploma from the Casa Dell’Orchestrale in 1991.Under the direction of C. Dutiro she has partecipated in seminars in African music as well as a number of jazz workshops under pianist Barry Harris. From 1997 to the present Rita has concentrated her energies on singing Jazz and Blues with the on-going coaching of la Verne Jackson. Under his guidance Rita became a voice teacher of adolescents and adults.Rita has taught piano and ear training to young children. She has been the featured singer with several rock groups and has also fronted a number of jazz groups in Italy. In 2001 meets Michele Hendricks at the Spoleto vocal workshop and studies with her in Italy and Paris. For four years Rita has partecipated in Spoleto Vocal jazz workshop and in 2003 she was awarded the “Best Vocalist†prize. She performs in New York city with Jeff Franzel, Dave Optkins, Bob Cranshaw, John Colianni.
She performed in Boston with the american singer Kris Adams, in 2006.Along with La Verne Jackson Rita organized seminars in Emilia Romagna and teaches ....in Modena and Bologna (www.artegenti.altervista.org; www.accademiadimusica.com; www.imprese.com..pgm).She sings in Italy with several jazz musicians, like Marco Bovi, Nico Menci, Renato Chicco, Davide Brillante, Andrea Dondi, Giuseppe Calì, Gianni Cazzola, Stefano Senni, Paolo Mappa, Carlo Atti, Gimmi Villotti, Dimitri Sillato, Lucio Ferrara.In 2004 she records the cd “Let me tell youâ€, with the “ Wide Sound.
