Kim Daugherty

Kim Daugherty was born in Ohio and currently lives with her husband, Mark, in Florida. Throughout her childhood, musically gifted parents, Calvin and Mary Jo, had regular "jam sessions" with many other local musicians. They also attended the philharmonic, the opera, blues clubs, and music festivals to expose Kim to many different genres of music. However, until April of 2007, she had had no formal training. It was then, after her first recording, Kim decided her skills needed improving. She started voice and music theory lessons with local professional, Cheryl Cerreta, who teaches at the School for Performing Arts in Tallahassee, Florida. Kim has dabbled with the cello, flute, hamonica, and recorder, but the piano will always remain her first love. Extremely shy with her body of work, this is the first studio recording of one of her original songs. Kim is currently back in the studio recording another single, "The Darker Side of Light", which should be out by the end of October. She is also working on completing her first full-length album and hopes to have it wrapped up by early 2008. In September 2007, Kim and her friend Matt Simpson had been jamming together and decided to take the leap and form THE BRUISED GRASS BAND. This will be an ecclectic mix of talents and personalities with a sound which incorporates both Kim's softer, soothing tones, and Matt's southern rock soulful grooves. The Bruised Grass project should be ready to hit the road in early 2008. In the meantime, you may still catch Kim performing her solo act. Just check this page for performance dates. "Hey all!
