It's a recording studio!
Here at Linear Recording we tend to gravitate towards a more 'traditional' approach to making records. Yes, it's a novelty but then again we're a bit of a novelty studio (given that we have tape machines, mirror balls, large consoles, blow-up dinosaurs, spring and plate reverbs, a solar-powered flip-flop plant and german tube microphones ...etc etc).
That said, we have put most of our effort and energy into making our little shop a very enjoyable place to realise your creative desires, whatever your musical orientation. We have decided that 'Bring on the Vibe' is our little marketing catchphrase here at Linear. It's our mission statement. Our raison d'etre. We've realised that Vibe is the one thing that you 1) can't buy at a music shop 2) can't get a plugin for and 3) hear on all the best recordings. That friends, is our secret to a killer record. Why? Because as humans, we respond to Vibe. It sticks on a recording like a cheap suit. It's what makes you want to tap your foot/dance/shag to a track. Sadly in recordings of the past 20 years or so, Vibe has been thoroughly beaten to within an inch of it's life (Thank you midi. Thank you vocalign. Thank you beat detective.) Our aim is to resucitate and restore Vibe to it's former glory and give it the credit that it deserves in this thankless and godforsaken industry.
So we are really in this game for the joy of the recorded product. Vis-à-vis, we love bands and the loud cacophony they make. If we wanted to make money folks, we would probably be in the Subway restaurant business. Or real estate. Or maybe hedge funds. How about private equity acquisitons? Actually, if it wasn't for music and it's pesky and addictive lures we probably would have stayed at uni and would have real jobs making actual money. But we digress. In fact, our aim is to make very little money whilst thoroughly enjoying ourselves and being proud of our achievements. Really? Is that possible in this age of competitiveness and bottom-line Gordon Geckonism?
Yes folks, it's true. It is for this very reason that we can offer our humble abode at seemingly ridiculous rates. YOU CAN AFFORD TO RECORD HERE!
We're very proud of the fact that our studio is one of the finest around, and yet competes price-wise with some of the worst around. It's no mean feat either. Sure, we could have stocked up with behringer, rode, digidesign, M-Audio and Alto gear from the 'pro-audio' section of eBay and called ourselves a 'professional studio'. But there are already enough people doing that, so we thought we'd take a different approach. And as they French say, “life is too short for cask wine...”
But anyway, we love crappy studios producing hideous-sounding records– they make our job here SO MUCH EASIER! But enough of us blowing our cheap studio trumpet (those guys probably make more money than us...) and more about the studio...
