Duty Now is the result of three years of relentless effort for four musicians striving to create a sound that is exciting, dark, atmospheric and hopefully enjoyable for anyone to listen to. Duty Now have been described in reviews as any of the following: post-rock, post-punk, indie, prog, a bunch of closet goths, dub-reggae cockteases, jazz and 'a Mancunian Sigur Ros'. None of these are entirely appropriate.
The band consists of:
Adam Comstive – bass guitar, master of the dynamics. The most laid back man in Britain. Very proud to be from Chorley.
John Hodgson – guitar, synths, samples and vocals. Crap robot dancer and self confessed geek. Can’t drink tea as it sends him hyper. Reluctantly Cumbrian.
Stephen Puntis – drums and percussion. Newest member of the band but probably the best musician. Suffered near depression recently over losing a glove. All the way from South Africa.
Matthew Rabone – guitar, usually making very scary feedback noises with his beloved ebow. Enjoys fighting, once attacked a large group of Russell Brand fans and won. Only Mancunian in the band.
Duty Now have been gigging regularly in Manchester for over a year, gaining confidence with every performance. 2007 is looking very exciting, the band have a huge catalogue of un-recorded and un-finished material which is better than anything recorded to date, this will be recorded and released on this website and on dutynow.co.uk throughout the year.
