Oxfam Soundcheck

About Me

soundcheck is a project set up by Oxfam in Manchester. soundcheck unites musicians, promoters, venues and other facets of the music industry from the city that share Oxfam's vision of a world where there is no longer poverty and suffering.
soundcheck supporters are helping to make some noise about Oxfam campaigns in loads of different ways. If you’d like to get involved, take a look below to see what you can do.
Check out the artists that have already joined soundcheck and drop us a line at [email protected] if you'd like to add your voice to the Oxfam campaigns.
Every three seconds, poverty takes a child’s life. That’s totally unacceptable, which is why Oxfam campaigns for changes that will make the world fairer and safer for its poorest people.
These include:
  • Faster action on Climate Change, which, if not prevented, will result in the loss of millions of lives worldwide
  • Trade rules which will allow poor countries to grow their economies
  • Controls on the arms trade, to cut conflicts that lock people into poverty
  • Access to the education that will give millions of children a better future

  • For more information on the issues that we work on, take a look at some of the links on the left of this page. You can also find out more on these issues on the Oxfam website and the Generation Why website.
If you’d like to get involved and make a difference, you can do something as simple as linking to the soundcheck website on your own website or myspace page and putting our logo on flyers/posters etc.
You can go even further by talking about relevant issues in blogs, newsletters or on-stage, having a banner on-stage while performing and even having campaigners at gigs. This isn't to say that you can’t get creative – if you have a new idea to help get the message out there, get in touch at [email protected] and we’ll do everything we can to help.
To add either of the above banners to your myspace page or website, the below code is what you'll need. The code on the left is for the banner with the white background; the code on the right is the black background.
