Title: Chorley: Where People Go To Fight!
Running Time: Feature length (? approx)
Release Date: October 26 2007
Chorley, Lancashire, early 21st century; ridiculed and dismissed as a national joke due to its inclusion in various popular comedy routines, a town in turmoil as modernisation and ?progress? robs it of its endearing habitual charms and traditions, perceived by the citizens of neighbouring cities such as Preston and Liverpool as ?that place where people go to fight?, this is Chorley today? or is it?
Is that really the image that the traditional, Lancashire market town now projects? Has it always been this way? Or maybe something else? Maybe ?the fight? in question is the struggle. A fight to realise dreams. A fight to be heard. A fight to escape. So the question on what we hope to answer remains; if Chorley is where people go to fight then what exactly are the people of Chorley fighting for? The gloves are off?
CHORLEY: WHERE PEOPLE GO TO FIGHT! is the story of the town today, told by its most principal champions - the people of Chorley themselves. The documentary focuses on the struggles or 'fights' that Chorley citizens encounter everyday. Fights which, in turn, serve to make-up and create the towns present day identity.
The film aims to celebrate Chorley by chronicling the raw determination and ceaseless human spirit of the towns inhabitants as they rise to overcome the obstacles and challenges that stand between them and their own personal objective.
The fight for acceptance, the fight to be heard, the fight to win... just a few of the stories that the film aims to portray as it captures a picture of the lives of the people of Chorley; an old fasioned market town thrust into the new millenium, balancing precariously on the edge of its own identity crisis. Seconds out...
