- Hunter S. Thompson
I was born, and raised, just north of Boston, MA, the same year that Coltrance died, and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Disraeli Gears", and "Axis: Bold As Love" were released. Not surprisingly, I got REALLY into music. I started out on piano, but by mutual understanding, we came to a parting of the ways. Next up was the trombone - I wasn't so thrilled about it at first, but our neighbors were selling one cheap, and it came with a teacher. I stuck with it. Seeing "The Kids Are Alright" by The Who was an epiphany, which instigated my abusing a series of cheap guitars, and mangling the entire Rush catalogue (up to and including "Moving Pictures"). While my guitar playing was relegated to living rooms and garages, the trombone took me elsewhere, usually in the company of 14 or 15 other musicians disguised as a Big Band. I failed the History of Music first at the University of Lowell, MA, and then - oddly - at Berklee College of Music. But while pondering the mysteries of Grout, I played my trombone with The Artie Shaw Orchestra, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and others that you may or may not have heard of. In 1996, I moved from New England to Cincinnati, where I played trombone with the Blue Wisp Big Band and The Cohesion Jazz Ensemble. I was eventually paid a visit by the Focal Dystonia Fairy, who said she loved my stuff, but had other plans for my horn. 'That's OK' I said, 'I've got other plans, too'. Check out my schedule to see where I'll be playing guitar. Thanks for looking!Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor
