Classically, my teachers and influences have been Joe Skrzynski, formerly of the Detroit Symphony, Ed Zadrozny, and Tony Chipurn, former of the Cincinnati Symphony, as well as a whole host of others on recordings.Jazz playing, I've been most influences by J.J. Johnson (of course), Carl Fontana, Jack Teagarden, Andy Martin, Jiggs Whigham, Bill Watrous, Urbie Green, Slide Hampton, Curtis Fuller and Frank Rosolino to name a few.As and arranger, I've been most influeced by Thad Jones, Bob Brookmeyer, Maria Schneider, Sammy Nestico, Billy May, Billy Byers, Rob McConnell, John Clayton, and of course my teachers Matt Michaels and Gary Lindsay.I've also been heavily influenced by Charles Gerard Conn, Henderson N. White and by any number of devoted Trappist Monks.
