About Me

My name is Danny Israel. I am 29 yrs old and I like travelling, languages, football, and movies. I was educated at A-Level, Bachelors and have a Masters of the Arts majoring in Film Studies. I began as a Course Rep, did work experience at Ealing Film Studios, The Producers, Pathe Distribution LTD, Everyman Media LTD, Phoenix Cinema Trust and worked at Contacting Distributors abroad, preparing productions such as Tales of the Crypt, Programming seasons and double bills of Art-house and independent films, then writing my Theses on Satyajit Ray of Calcutta, India and finally Jean-Pierre Melville, the French hero of the Nouvelle Vague/ New Wave. I have never entered into Film Criticism officially apart from writing a few blogs on imdb.com. A wise man who used to be the Time Out Flm Critic and is hopefully still busy at it once told me 'You never earn much as a film critic, most of us do it as a supplementary income'. I did a TEFL course which was a great experience: I had some one-on-one students from Japan, Russia, Israel and France which was really fulfilling.I travelled extensively across the world taking some cool photos and trying to visit as many countries as possible. I now live in Holland and I am trying my upmost to master the language - quite a task!
