ENGLISH & SPANISH We started to play togheter in Santiago de Compostela,our home town in 1993.We are soul brothers since we were kids.Meeting when we were trying to work on each other's sister.We was in the same school,but we wasn't good at all,specially in music,where we was always the last row of the chorus.... But we realiced that we had the same music feeling....that was totally the opposit of our teacher. After founding and playing in different bands in Galicia like the Red Blues Band or the Blue Rags we got known in Galicia as "the crazy punk kids playing the blues".... Marcos moved to Madrid in 1999 where he joined one of the most well known bands in Spain:The Tonky Blues Band....After two years Adrian joined the band,first as a drummer and later as a guitar player.Until 2002 we stayed in the band touring and backing up artists like Mick Taylor(Rolling Stones)or Buddy Miles(Jimmy Hendrix) with whom we did some studio work too. After that incredible experience for us, we were ready to form our own band Los Reyes del KO.We chose that name because we used to play in boxing events.In a few months we recorded our first album "CollvsCosta"with Javier Vacas and Antonio Alvarez from LaVacazul, earning the "blues album of the year award" in Spain. We played almost every blues festival in Spain,sharing stage with legends as Buddy Guy,Solomon Burke,The Faboulus Thunderbirds,John Mayall etc....We was having the time of our lives!!!! After doing more festivals and clubs, recording the cd Marcos Coll&Adrian Costa "Home Made Blues"and earning the number 1 spot as party animals everywhere we went,we decided to move to Germany in 2004. Without any idea of what was going to happen,we got lucky and with the help of all the blues community and specially Chris Rannenberg and Michael Maass,we settled in Berlin,starting to perform in festivals and clubs all over europe,Mexico etc as well as backing up other known musicians in Germany like Aron burton,The Stimulators,Guitar Crusher,Tom Blacksmith,Peter Krausse,Abi Wallenstein,Eb Davis etc,as well as jamming with friends like Sugar Blue,Tino Gonzales,Angela Brown etc.Now more than ever we was freacking out....!!!! In march 2006 we recorded our new cd "Hot Tin Roof"produced by Chris Rannemberg and co-produced by Keith Dunn and Willie Jackson with a deluxe band that includes long time Fats Domino sax player Herb Hardesty,Sax Gordon,etc,etc as well as other surprises.... In our blues that goes from traditional to modern electric you can find lots of funky beats,soul and even spanish roots like our version of "La Paloma",flavoured with a high X-rated component.... some people called us the spanish Buddy Guy and Junior wells....we think of ourselves more like the Galician Cheech&Chong. In our show we just try to make everybody dance and forget their shit for at least a couple hours,and that for once, grannies,mothers and daughters agree in one thing.... Surprisingly we got prizes ,like the Berlin Blues&Jazz Award and our names are in the music school books in Galicia!!!!But thats nothing compared to the great friends we have met all over the world ,and the chance to see such beatyfull places...thats the best that music gives us,besides music itself!and makes our effort worth.THANKs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPANISHLOS REYES DEL KOEmpezamos a tocar juntos en Santiago de Compostela en 1993. Somos como hermanos desde que éramos niños. Nos conocimos cuando nos intentábamos ligar a nuestras hermanas... Fuimos al mismo colegio, pero no éramos nada buenos en ello,especialmente en música,donde siempre estábamos en la ultima fila del coro... Pero nos dimos cuenta de que teníamos el mismo feeling para la música... que era justo el contrario de nuestra profesora. Después de montar y tocar en diferentes bandas como Red Blues Band o Blue Rags, nos hicimos conocidos en Galicia como "los niños punkys que tocan blues"Marcos se mudo a Madrid en 1999 donde paso a formar parte de una de las mas conocidas bandas de blues españolas, la Tonky Blues band... Después de dos años, Adrián se unió a la banda, primero como batería, y luego ya como guitarrista. Hasta 2002 estuvimos en la banda haciendo giras y acompañando a artistas como Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones); Buddy Miles(Jimmy Hendrix), con los que también hicimos alguna sesión en el estudio.Después de esa increíble experiencia, ya estábamos preparados para montar nuestra propia banda, Los Reyes del Ko, que toma el nombre por las veladas de boxeo en las que solíamos tocar. En pocos meses grabamos nuestro primer álbum "Coll Vs Costa" con Javier Vacas y Antonio Alvarez y producido por Naco Goñi,que llego a ser el "disco de Blues del año en España".Tocamos en prácticamente todos los festivales de España, compartiendo escenario con leyendas como Buddy Guy, Solomon Burke, The Faboulous Thunderbirds, John Mayall etc...Estábamos flipándola....!!!!Después de mas festivales y clubs, de grabar el disco Marcos Coll&Adrián Costa "Home Made Blues" y ganar el campeonato de mayores fiesteros allá donde íbamos, decidimos como buenos gallegos emigrar a Alemania en 2004. Sin idea de lo que allí nos esperaba, tuvimos suerte y con la ayuda de toda la comunidad alemana de blues, especialmente de Chris Rannenberg y Michael Maass, nos asentamos en Berlín. Desde allí empezamos a tocar en festivales y clubs de toda Europa,Mexico etc así como también acompañamos a otros músicos de la escena como Aron Burton ,The Stimulators, Guitar Crusher, Tom Blacksmith, Peter Krausse, Abi Wallenstein, Eb Davis etc. así como también hacer jams y amistad con gente de la talla de Sugar Blue, Tino Gonsales, Angela Brown etc.....Ahora si que ya no podíamos parar de flipar!!!!!En marzo de 2006 grabamos nuestro nuevo disco "Hot Tin Roof" producido por Chris Rannenberg y co-producido por Keith Dunn y Willie Jackson con una banda de lujo que incluye al saxofonista de Fats Domino Herb Hardesty, a Sax Gordon Beadle etc ademas de otras sorpresas...En nuestro blues que va de tradicional al eléctrico moderno, tambien se encuentran muchos ritmos funky, soul e incluso raíces españolas como nuestra versión de "La Paloma", todo ello condimentado con un ingrediente X... Alguna gente nos a llamado los Buddy Guy y Junior Wells españoles... pero nosotros nos vemos mas como los Cheech and Chong gallegos. En nuestro show solo tratamos de hacer que la gente no pare de bailar y se olvide de sus marrones por al menos un par de horitas, y que por una vez, las abuelas, madres e hijas estén en algo de acuerdo....Sorprendentemente hemos ganado alguna que otro premio prestigioso como el Berlin Jazz&Blues Award, y nuestros nombres están en los libros de música de los colegios de Galicia! Pero eso no es nada comparable a la cantidad de amigos que hemos conocido en el camino, asi como los caminos y sitios preciosos que hemos tenido la oportunidad de visitar... eso es lo máximo que nos da la música a parte de la música en si ,y que hace que el esfuerzo no sea en vano!
