John Stringer has been part of the music establishment in Australia for close to 20 years. He formed his first band, the Little Monsters, when he was 17 with his brother Kenny Stringer, who would go on to national fame with the Sweet Blue Midnights. After two years of playing the Perth scene in the Little Monsters, John was keen to move out of his brother’s shadow, and formed Full Measure, which, after a few line-up changes, changed its name to Colourblind, and went on to record four CDs, Crude and Green, EatPeople, Everyman, and Four Humours culminating in national airplay for the single, Certainty on the national youth radio station Triple. Not one to rest on his laurels, John had a number of side projects, including the Blues Bus, a seminal blues band with a rolling line-up that included founding member, Robert Thorne, Australian blues legend Lindsay Wells, Bob Patient (Dave Hole), John Wilson (Dave Hole), Bob Fortescue (Chain), Matt Taylor, Ivan Zarr, and Ron Parker (Dave Hole), amongst many others. He also formed a trio with Michael Francas and Dudley Bastian, the Blindettes, and toured Australia’s north. Later, John joined Robert Thorne again, and put together a repertoire of classic soul and blues songs mixed with their superlative originals, releasing the CD Grabs and Snatches, to rave reviews in Sydney.
