About Me
Felix B. Amieva "Slim", born in Ceuta, 34 years old, Singer, Guitar and Harmonica Blues player, at the moment settled in Cadiz but he has no idea where he will be found tomorrow; self-taught artist in the study of Blues right back to their very roots, he has collaborated with various bands and artists like Mingo Balaguer, Raimundo Amador, Bob Margolin, Darryl Williams, Smiling Jack Smith, Antonio Serrano, Bobby Radcliff, Tony Coleman, Alan Bike, Marcos Coll & Adrian Costa, Pedro Cortejosa, Los Andabluses, Lolo Ortega (ex Caledonia Blues Band), and others.
He plays solo Blues Rural (Country Blues, Folk Blues or Acoustic Blues), the most genuine Blues, while he is sometimes accompanied by renown harmonica players such as Manolo de Arcos, Mingo Balaguer, "Armonica" Naranjo, Juan Clavero, Antonio Serrano, etc...
Competent with the Guitar and a fast Slide player, he sings with an unnatural voice as if he had been possessed by an old Blues man’s spirit.....in this way he tries to recover tunes played more than a century in the states of Louisiana, Texas, Georgia....
Pure sounds and deep-routed that do not conflict with the festive atmosphere, as it is experienced at a funeral in New Orleans.
Gospel, Swing and Ragtime are behind this harmony, transforming his performances to something that the word concert has the sense of: an agreement between two people, the artist and his audience, which often participates in this party. He plays his own songs and the old masters’ Blues like Charley Patton, Son House, Tommy Johnson, Fred McDowell, Blind B Fuller, Cab Calloway, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Duke Ellington, Robert Johnson, Gershwin versions............... He founded the band The Blues Papas (modern style of Blues), in 2001 The Hoodoo Men, in which he sings and plays the electric guitar along with Paco Munoz (Void, Hakim, Kaya) a percussion player (Cajon, plate and brushes or better the drums), Selu Bastos (El Barrio) or Chiqui Mingo playing at the guitar, and with bass players of considerable stature like Juan Arias (Caledonia) or Alejandro Benitez (Falete).
At the end of 2004, he travels to Greece and he settles in Crete for a year and a half, where he takes advantage of his time there to study the music of the Island and above all Rebetiko, "The Greek Blues". Moreover, in a very short period he starts playing solo all over the country, collaborating also with the band The Blues Wires. Along with Pandelis Petridis, Phil Takis and Leonidas Alachadamis (Socrates and Hexadactylus) he founded The Hoodoo Blues Gang, and they played all over Crete. In 2006 he returns to Cadiz and founds the Felix Slim Blues Band, with Jose Luis "Selu" at the bass, Pablo Perez at the drums and some other artists all ready mentioned above. The repertoire of this band is of a modern style, with his own songs and versions of Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, BB King, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, T Bone Walker.
Electric Blues.....Chicago Blues, Jump, Swing, Texas Blues, Funky, Soul.....in "Wild" Performances!!!
Also in 2006, he forms a duet with the well-known harmonica player Mingo Balaguer, and they go over all the national territory, reaping great critics and an audience where ever they perform. He also collaborates with the Jamba Dixieland of Cadiz playing the tenor banjo.
Despite his short career, he has taken part in important music events like the ALCANCES 2006 and 2007, the Jazz Festival of the Seville Province 2007, Tabaco Blues 2006, Musica en Palacio 2006 (Delegation of Cadiz), I Blues Festival in Hondarribia (Guipuzcoa, Spain), the II Blues Festival (Puente Genil, Spain), the Heraklio Arts Festival 2005 (Crete, Greece), the Bushy's Big Wheel Blues Festival 2004 (Isle of Man, UK) the VIII, IX and XIII Cazorla Blues Festival , Almeriblues 2003, the Antequera Blues Festival 2002 and 2006, the VIII Blues Festival in Pinto, the Rhythm and Blues Festival in Aragon 2002 or the V Jazz Festival in Moron and halls like Royal George and Ain't Nothin' But the Blues (London, UK), “Mylos Clubâ€, “Ziggy†and “Bazar†(Thessalonica, Greece), "La Boca del Lobo" (Madrid, Spain) "Harlem Jazz Club" (Barcelona, Spain), "Cafe Residence" (Bilbao, Spain), "Blues Ville" Palma de (Mallorca Spain), Hall "Clap" (Mataro, Spain), "El Ultimo Tren" at the prelude of the programme of the Blues Festival (Cerdanyola, Spain), "Sala Sputnik" Solsona (Lleida, Spain), the Cafe Casagrande (Seville Spain), "ZZ Pub" (Malaga Spain), "Cambalache Jazz Club" (Cadiz, Spain), "Alexis Viernes" (Granada Spain), or "Sala Z" Zaragoza at the Rhythm and Blues Festival (Aragon Spain).Félix B. Amieva "Slim", natural de Ceuta, 34 años, Cantante, Guitarrista y Armonicista de Blues afincado en Cádiz, aun no sabe dónde se encontrará mañana; autodidacta en el estudio del Blues desde sus raÃces, ha colaborado con diversas formaciones y artistas como Mingo Balaguer, Raimundo Amador, Bob Margolin, Darryl Williams, Smiling Jack Smith, Antonio Serrano, Bobby Radcliff, Tony Coleman, Alan Bike, Marcos Coll & Adrian Costa, Pedro Cortejosa, Los Andabluses, Lolo Ortega (ex Caledonia Blues Band), y otros.
