Jeff won the Grammy for his song “Wind Beneath My Wingsâ€, voted Song of the Year by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences . Bette Midler and Arif Mardin also received Record of the Year Grammy's for Bette’s version of the song. To this date “Wind†has received 7 ASCAP pop awards, including a Song of the Century award, and was recognized as one of the American Film Institute’s 100 Greatest Movie Songs.
Recently, Jeff co-wrote “What Goes Around†the opening theme to the hit TV series My Name Is Earl. Another of Jeff’s songs “Ride of Your Life†became the end title for the Warner Bros. film What a Girl Wants and featured in the ESPN biography The Dale Earnhardt Story. “Wind Beneath My Wings†was also featured in the Dreamworks animated blockbuster Shark Tale. His song “She Can’t Burn Me Now’ was recorded by the Del McCoury Band.
Honored by the Nashville Songwriters Association International as Songwriter of the Year, Jeff has earned more than thirty ASCAP awards for their most performed pop and country songs.
Silbar’s songs have been recorded by such artists as John Mellencamp (“China Girl†from American Fool, triple platinum), Fleetwood Mac (single “Hard Feelings†from Behind the Mask, platinum), and Kenny Rogers (“Goodnight Man†from The Gambler), quadruple platinum), as well as a host of others including Sheena Easton, Gladys Knight, Dolly Parton, Poco, Willie Nelson, and Alabama (1 single). Other recordings include artists like Johnny Lang , Reba McEntire, Levert, Wynonna, and Blackhawk.
Jeff has worked with a number of the industries largest music publishers, including Sony Music, Warner-Chappell, and House of Gold Music, and is responsible as a publisher for many hit recordings. His songs have also been featured many times in films and on television.
