.....small amounts of lunacy.
Truth be told, that is pretty much the answer to most things you can throw at me. My name is Tova.
I am, as you may have guessed by the classy box above this paragraph, a singer/songwriter. As a general rule, I loathe artist bios. I find them dull. They told me I shouldn't write my own and they are probably right. So off I go anyway!
I am not a scary person. In fact, some even call me nice! A few years ago I wanted a guitar. God left one on the side of the freeway for me. No joke. I knew no one in an industry where that is pretty much your meal ticket. So what does a slightly insane, overly ambitious person do in this situation?
They tap into those small amounts of lunacy mentioned above. Ignoring the odds is a good place to start.
And a sense of humor is absolutely essential for your survival.

I've been fortunate enough to work with some insanely talented people, the list is long and some can be found in the song credits area on the left (I give great directions, don't I?) Others I will tell you about next time I run into you at the Coffee Bean. Remind me.
In this pool of insane talent and creativity, you will find Sami Tormanen. Some absolutely amazing things exploded creatively in 2007 as the co-writer, all-around lovely person, genuis extraordinaire that is known asSami and I have stumbled upon an amazing thing.
We are currently involved in something very exciting called Project Emit. Coming soon to a world near you. Look out for it! Full details will be revealed slowly as we come into 2008. Its all very exciting, secretive and highly important. ;)

"...The past..."
Music grabbed me at an early age. By the age of three I had taken the family stereo hostage and I still haven't relinquished ownership. I was the only 6 year old around that had the working knowledge of a real record player and Elvis Presley was my best friend by the age of 7. I was very bitter that I wasn't born in the 60s, as I had obviously missed out on all the good in the world and would never recover from this loss. At the point I made this realization I was nine years old. The years pass. Those small amounts of lunacy set in and I decided to move back to the LA area and pursue (read: attack) the music industry with full force.
And God help me what came next. Shows. Meetings in Italian restaurants. Music going everywhere. If an Eskimo with an uncle in Florida whose stepson was an intern at Columbia in NY met me, he got a CD! And a big smile from me.
Lots of studio time. I wrote furiously. All the time. One of my proudest accomplishments was in 2002 - writing a song called Dear Daniel in memory of the murdered journalist Daniel Pearl. I went through a semi breakdown one night, and a song was suddenly there. I got to perform at his memorial that year, and speak to his parents which was a complete honor.
While I waited for the spaceship that would help me on my road to world dominion (and you think I'm joking...) not only did I write songs for myself, I wrote for other artists as well. It keeps it interesting as work for others can range from Radio Disney material all the way down to what I fondly refer to as 'death rock for angry people.' I take it in stride!Viva Hollywood. Etc. What a city. I have stories...You couldnt begin to imagine the stories I have.
Other random bits of information about me: Words absolutely run my world. Bono from U2 is my hero, I have more embarrassing stories than you can imagine, no shame and the annoying habit of losing socks.
