Another Eden
I wake to the darkness outside & drive the three hours to work.
To a concrete block with scant windows, where I am ordered , patronised, insulted & belittled
I am out on my feet, I dont have the time to eat, I am a living pressure cooker nearing the boil
I drive the three hours back home, where I sit staring at the car in front
breathing in the fumes of a vehicle that costs more than my mortgage.
I'm pollutionised, I work because I'm consumerised, I am dirty, over thirty And I am a broken man.
I arrive home where I wash off the stench of the day, & the stench of every other person who has come within a whisker of my being.
I sit in front of a unsympethetic television, and eat the contents of a cardboard box in my dressing gown & my socks.
And only then do I slowly drift away to another eden, to another feeling.................
I pray this feeling never goes away,
I pray that I never awake & come the day of my passing
I hope I am in Another Eden
