Yazz Ahmed

Female Jazz Trumpeter!

About Me

Graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama postgraduate jazz course, Yazz Ahmed has performed with various groups and has gained much musical experience in many different genres. Such groups have included funk band ‘Big Daddy Moochin’, National Youth Jazz Orchestra, many small jazz ensembles and some orchestral work. She also featured for Manic Street Preachers in the music video of their single Ocean Spray. Yazz is currently working with acoustic artist David Hurn and various big bands, along with the Yazz Ahmed Quintet.
She has worked with a number of internationally acclaimed jazz musicians, including Toshiko Akiyoshi, Pete Saberton, Rufus Reid, Jean Toussaint, The Cennet Jonsson Quartet, Brian Abrahams, Henry Lowther, and Nikki Illes. Her Grandfather, Terry Brown, was also a successful jazz trumpet player in the 50’s and worked with some of Britain’s best jazz musicians of all time – including Tubby Hayes, Ronnie Scott, and the original John Dankworth Seven. Terry has been a great inspiration to Yazz and she hopes to follow in his footsteps.
Yazz Ahmed plays Eclipse Trumpets and Flugels exclusively. Check out the site at www.eclipsetrumpets.com
