Professional Experience.
May 1991- Sept.1992:
My first musical experience began with this long-established and famous Italian rock trio, Garybaldi, lead by the former Hendrix-like guitar player Bambi Fossati.
I toured extensively with them around Italy and Switzerland.
1992 -1996:
During this period I played with some local rock and pop bands.
I also started to collaborate with a number of songwriters (Federico Sirianni, Fabrizio Casalino)challenging myself with new musical styles, a popular mix of pop, acoustic, jazz and blues.
1996 -1998:
During this time my musical direction changed and I became fascinated with new styles of music such as Funk, Soul and Black Music.
I joined different projects such as Kaffygoora and Revolution Was Stopped Because of Rain and with whom I toured throughout northern Italy.
Jan.1998 - Dec.1998:
I moved to New York City, and during my stay in the U.S. I had the opportunity to work with different bands and projects, playing in several clubs in Manhattan and recording the soundtrack of the film 'The Last Call' for NYU (New York University).
I also performed with the Argentinean Flamenco band Las Guitarras de America in a TV show for Channel 41, in Hoboken (New Jersey).
1999 - April 2000:
Having graduated from the Bass Collective, I moved to Copenhagen (DK), where I joined a few local bands playing different styles of music:
Babysteps (Pop/Rock- original band) with whom I recorded a demo-CD
Red Hot Live (Funk/ Rock - Red Hot Chili Peppers Tribute Band) performing in clubs throughout the city.
Timo Vuoppola Project (Fusion) an original project formed by musicians of the Copenhagen Jazz Conservatorium and lead by this talented finnish drummer.
2000:
Back in Italy I joined Zerozen, a pop band from Milan.
I performed with them in several gigs and TV shows and recorded their second CD under the Sony Music Entertainment label and a single-track video clip, which is included.
2000 - 2002:
I collaborated with several other bands challenging myself in different music styles, especially Jazz-Funk, Soul and Pop and performing all around Italy in clubs, festivals and theatres.
2002 - Oct. 2003:
I joined the Franco-Italian songwriter Roberto Sironi and his band.
Together we toured theatres in France, Switzerland and England (Royal Festival Hall, January 2003).
2002 - 2005:
I worked with two cover bands, Groovin' Ass Funk Quartet (Black Music) and Radiobionda (Rock, Hard Rock) with whom I toured throughout northern Italy.
May 2005:
I moved to Galway City (Ireland).
In September I joined Lewd Tunes,a well known local seven-piece cover band with whom i'm performing in the city's main venues and throughout Ireland.
Cuba Libre!, salsa eight -piece band, is another project I am involved in: we play throughout the Country and regularly on Wednesdays at Bar 903, one of Galway's main venues.
I also collaborate with the Black Magic Big Band the West Coast Big Band, the Spanish Arch Hotel Jazz Session with the West Coast All Stars (Cork Jazz Festival '06).
Besides all this projects I teach electric bass privately, a very important part of my job i have been enjoying since I started in 1994.
Education.
1988 -1996:
My musical education began with Massimo Palermo, bass teacher at Music Line in Genoa.
1996 - 1997:
I concentrated my studies strictly on jazz harmony under the guide of master Roberto Pronzato, a talented and experienced pianist.
Jan 1998 - Dec 1998:
I moved to New York City to attend the Bass Collective, where I graduated in October of the same year.
In this school I had the chance to study and play with some of the most important musicians of the New York and world scene: John Patitucci (also school's Artistic Director), Lincoln Goines, Leo Traversa, Greg Jones, Zev Katz, Hilliard Greene, Mike Pope, Joe Fitzgerald, Nilson Matta, to name just a few.
I also had the opportunity to study with Michael Lauren, amazing drummer and teacher at Drummers Collective (the drum and percussion section of The Collective) and with whom I perfected the study of jazz and funk rhythm section's interplay.
During this period I also attended several music seminars (Anthony Jackson, John Patitucci/Peter Erskine, Mike Clark, Greg Jones/Kim Plainfield, Eddie Gomez, Victor Wooten) and performed with different jazz ensemble organized by the school, including the Big Band conducted by the Collective's headmaster John Castellano.
I graduated on the 23rd October 1998 after a recital, which included, among other pieces, one of my own compositions.
