Da Funky Bassist!

About Me

Greetings all!! I am Da Funky Bassist, and I hope that you support Live Music in your town. Mucho props to my wife Gayle for supporting my music career. It means a lot to have her support!... 143 Mrs. Web...
Originally from Dayton, Ohio I been living in the Los Angeles area since 1983. My personal band is Cross-Town Traffic, but I will play my bass for hire in various other projects when I get the call. CTT plays it all including standard jazz, pop, soul, R&B, smooth jazz, from Herbie Hancock, Grover Washington, Ronnie Jordan, Kool & The Gang, Rick James, Teena Marie, Gloria Gaynor, Luther Vandross, to Chaka Khan. Props to my partners in music: David Jackson, Keith Williams, Donnie Bell, Lexie Cole, Piete' Miller, Arnell Smith, Aya Iwata, Larry Houston, William Zimmerman, Michael Fortunato, Vincent Cincy Horn, Jaythan Sparks and Art Zamora. Thanks for making CTT a slammin' unit.
****** To "ACTUALLY HEAR" me playing bass go to the Cross Town Traffic in my friends list. No studio tricks, just some slammin' live tracks so you can feel the beat N groove. Here is the link.******

Since 1983 I have played with several music projects for over 23 years now in the Los Angeles area. You may have seen me playing all over at Stevie's Cafe (Encino), The Blue Cafe (Long Beach), BB King's (Universal City Walk), Twin Palms (Pasadena), The Joint (LA), Club 14 Below (Santa Monica), Burbank Bar & Grill, Cafe Boogaloo (Hermosa Beach), The Knitting Factory (Hollywood), Spaghettini's (Seal Beach), The Gig in Hollywood & West Hollywood, The Mint (LA), Harvelle's (Santa Monica), The Temple Bar (Santa Monica), The Roxy (Hollywood), The Moomba Room (West Hollywood), Club 1650 (Hollywood), Poppa Bill's (Pomona), The Yoke N Ox (Carson), Don Juan's (San Bernadino), The Oasis (San Diego), Vandenburg AFB, March AFB, Victorville AFB and several others.
The artist include Alan Foster's Redemption, Nikki J. Crawford, King Cotton's band, 2nd Nature, Lara Janine, Heidi Allyce & That Band, Victor Orlando & Fun-Ja-La & my band Cross Town Traffic.
Two of my proudest moments are in 1983 when I first relocated to Los Angeles, my band Record Player at the LA Street scene downtown on Temple Street with 3 Dog Night, and Stevie Wonder. Also we did an audition at the Playboy club before it closed down in Century City. We started playing Prince's 1999 for soundcheck, and all the Bunnies ran out the dressing room to see us rehearse. That was fun!! Recently my band CTT played at my Wedding reception, and the band threw it down!!*S*
*** I have a childhood friend from Dayton who is plays regularly in Las Vegas. His name is Tresure (Mark Brown), who holds down as the lead vocalist for "In-Effect". Tresure has great dance moves, and can sing just about anything out there. I am real PROUD of my Dayton homie. Hit him up at his Myspace by clicking his name right below.

Stevens, Corey Glover, comic Shang, Rosie Gaines, Andrew Gouche', Jackie Clark, Byron Miller, Malcom-Jamal Warner, Wayne Linsey, CatDaddy, Tom Witt, Tony Delgado, Tony Boyd, & Dwayne "Smitty" Smith, just a few of the fellow bassist here who were nice enough to message me on my questions about their gear or guestions in general.
Also props to all the fellow bassist I have met here and other cool musicians. I am proud to be a musician, because not everyone can do what we do. We make sounds that make others feel good and groove to.
