“The music of pianist Marco Detto is not looking for side streets, it doesn’t tempt avantgard, Marco just uses classic way of playing piano, supported by a nice technique and propose standard rearranged with authentic passion. As a pianist, Marco Detto prove to have a certain melodic vein, a certain mode, full-bodied and able to harmonize a capacity to alternate the emotions that are sometimes re-echoed in technique of some great personalities of the past. As a composer he has a romantic propensity, which nevertheless doesn’t emphasize and which makes you to be included among an elegant play of the bright-dark." ( : V. "It is a jazz introspective, which refers to the best jazz traditions even if influenced and mediated by a ’melodic vein’, all Italian, which moves among memories, quotations, plays and those veils of melancholy and sweetness, that seem to wrap up and reduce everything and, and which always accompany the music of pianist Marco Detto." In the Air - Review by Steven Loewy  : :
Cinematographer and jazz documenter Ken Burns might be surprised to find an accomplished scene in the heart of Italy, but Marco Detto is a prime example of the kind of superb mainstream improvisational skill to be found in the land of Popes and pizza. The liners speak of a sense of nostalgia running through Detto’s work. He does tend to look toward the past, his piano comfortable with Ellington, Cole Porter, Rogers & Hart, as well as his own bop-laced conceptions. Detto is accomplished, his hands dancing across the keyboard, confidently and luxuriously. The highlight of the album, Detto’s almost 15-minute mixed rendition of the Ellington/Strayhorn classics "Take the ’A’ Train" and "Caravan" explodes with familiar delights. Max De Aloes lyrical contribution on harmonica on the closing "Canzone Per Martino" leaves the listener wanting more. While Detto’s trio is hardly revolutionary, it does effectively dig into the pieces, without transforming them. This is the sort of fare that works so well live, in the ambience of the club, when melodic invention and relaxing swing hold sway. : :
