About Me

Fabio Di Biagio was born in Rome in 1961. He has always had a fascination for and played music. In July 1976, after having seen the “Weather Report” in concert in Rome, he began to study music. The mysterious, intense and fascinating sound of Joe Zawinul captivated him and he decided to take organ lessons with Gianni Altobelli. In the early 80’s, Fabio di Biagio took piano lessons with Ettore Gentile and Amedeo Tommasi at the Rome St. Louis Jazz Centre. At the same time, he also performed with various fusion and funk bands, preferring Rhodes electric piano sounds and synthesizers rather than classical piano, as well as his own compositions rather than standard jazz. A few years later, to refine his technique he also studied classical piano with Claudio Lupo. Following further independent studying, he focussed his interest mainly on playing keyboards, influenced by his love of Zawinul’s captivating sounds. In the 90’s, he participated in the Umbria Jazz Clinics, where he attended a keyboards and computer music course taught by Dave Mash, Professor at Berklee school in Boston, and Joe Zawinul. The meeting with Zawinul had an enormous influence on Fabio’s life. After a period of time during which he played piano in various music clubs, he then became attracted by filmmaking, another of his passions. He began work on several film sets and collaborated with renowned film directors, such as Dario Argento and Michele Soavi. This experience led him to write, direct, shoot, edit and compose music for his own short films. He also made a series of documentaries for Rome City Hall and video directed a number of concerts and theatre plays. In 2000, he resumed playing music, experimenting with different sounds, including vintage sounds. He is currently working at “Esperienze” where he has revisited and rearranged some of his own compositions in an ethnic style, in collaboration with African vocalist and percussionist Esharef Mhagag Ali. He is currently working on his own CD, which is expected to be released in the next few months and presented live. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ -----------------------------------------------You are now marked on my visitor map!
