Tomas Merlo was borned in Palma de Mallorca in 1980.At the age of seventeen picked up an electric bass.When he was 20 he went to Holland to study at the conservatorium van Amsterdam.There he studied doublebass with Frans van der Hoeven and Ernst Glerum and electric bass with David de Marez Oyens.During his studies he took lessons with Avishai Cohen,Dave Holland,Michell Hatzigeorgiou,Richard Bona,Dick Oats,Ari Hoening among others and played with Michael Brecker,Ari Hoening,Willie Joe Jones III,Randy Brecker,Roberta Gambarinni.
In 2001 he went to NY,he studied with Marc Johnson,Ben Street and John Pattitucci.
He graduated in 2003,after that he moved to Madrid were he played with such artist like Antonio Serrano,Concha Buika,Perico Sambeat,Jerry Gonzalez,Israel Sandoval,and recorded with Israel Sandoval,Federico Lechner,Guillermo Alvarez,and the music for various films like Amor en defensa propia,Segundo asalto.
