José Lopretti was born in Montevideo Uruguay.
He starts playing piano at de age of seven and playing bass at de age of 12.
Later he continues his studies at the Music Conservatory of Montevideo.
At the age of 22 he came to live in Europe where he refined his musical
knowledge. In the early nineties he starts touring with his
own band “Candombe†and released his first CD.
His music shows a variation of south-american rithms (from Uruguay,
Argentina and Brazil) influenced by jazz harmonies and
improvisation .
He has performed and recorded with different artists in the world of jazz,
latin , tango, brazilian and classical music (Brad Mehldau , Leonardo Amuedo,
Jesse van Ruller , Hernan Ruiz , Gustavo Toker , Fleurine , Rumbatá , Ruben Rada , Marcia Maria , Luis di Matteo,Gerardo Rosales , Izaline Calister, ZUCO 103, Beatriz Aguiar, Nueva Manteca ......) touring around Europe several times.
José’s latest CD (Campo y ciudad) will be released by E-Sound Records in march 2007.
