About Me

Born in Suriname, pianist Ferial Karamat Ali started studying classical music at the age of six. She continued to develop her musical skills in the USA and since 1984 in Holland, where she began her career as a performing artist. On her journey through improvised music she developed a distinct fondness for Brazilian jazz. Currently, Ferial is performing with her trio, featuring Glenn Gaddum/Jeroen Vierdag on bass and Archie Peña/Tim Dudek on drums, with the Brazilian formation Sense Of Samba. CD "Alvorada": featuring Ana Beck, Theo de Jong, Hein van de Geyn, Roy Dackus, and Leonardo Amuedo, among others.
