Latin/World Music Percussionist/Songwriter/Composer/Socan member, Gustavo ..Repique.. Rosa..s work includes writing score for the Canadian/Uruguayan co-production of the movie ..14 days in paradise... Gustavo wrote and sang the lyrics of ..Yo te imagine.. with music by Carlos Anesetti.
Repique was also asked to record a percussion piece to sound like a live comparsa (large group of drummers playing the traditional afro-uruguayan candombe rhythm on the street) as the movie features a scene filmed in the famous ..Mercado del Puerto.. in Montevideo Uruguay.Other songs included here: Agua de Beber composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and sang by Claudia Santilli, Bomba H composed by Jorge Gularte interpreted by Bando Sur in Toronto.

Accompanying Canadian singer Amanda Martinez, Gustavo explained how exciting it is to play her repertoire as it includes traditional South American folkclore such as zamba rioplatense, mexican songs, brazilian samba, bossa nova, cuban music and of course her own songs with varied influences. Repique explains, "in one gig I get to play cajon, congas, bongos and every other percussion accesories I have at hand.

Claudia Santilli's live concerts and recordings features Gustavo playing Latin and Brazilian percussion. Claudia sings Mirandote Bailar© in Gustavo's demo track and hear Agua de Beber from her own album where Gustavo Repique plays percussion.
----------Conguero for Pianist Jim Finlayson's Clave y Son, produced some great latin jazz alongside Paco Luviano, Larry Borg and Roger Williams.

As percussionist with Juan Valencias' Plan C, Gustavo got the chance to use all his expertise in latin dance rhythms and funk to achieve the bands "Alterlatino" sound.
Gustavo wrote the song Rosa Luna© played live by Plan C sang by Janelle Monique and with a killer horn arrangement by Juanca.
----------Co-founder of the original Son Ache outfit, Gustavo played congas and is author and composer of "Son los que lo bailan"© and "Atrapado"© as well as the lyrics for "Sabrosura"© these songs were played live and recorded by the band as a demo disc.
At the time Evaristo Machado and Angel Luis were the vocalists featured in this recording. Later on Alberto Alberto sang Repique's compositions live as the band's vocalist. Highlights include jamming at Cervejaria with Alexis Baro, Ivana Santilli, Eliana Cuevas and members of the Buenavista Social Club and Afro Cuban All Stars visiting Toronto and sitting in for some cuban son classics and boleros, as Felix Baloy did.
----------As Conga player for Klave y Kongo lead by Blair Martin, Gustavo got to play "Son Montuno" The band succeded in keeping a rarely seen before weekly gig at Cervejaria Downtown for about 8 years before it was taken over by Son Ache.
Highlights include opening for Cubanismo at Massey Hall in 2000 a sold out concert at Lee's Palace with guest pianist Hilario Duran and opening for Sargento Garcia at Opera House.
----------Eduardo Lis and The Latino Jazz Project saw Gustavo playing live and in the studio, recording in the band's disc. Check Repique's conga solo in 11 Songo Blues composed by Eduardo Lis, included in this site. Highlights include Toronto Jazz Festival concerts with Kieran Overs, Paco Luviano, Hilario Duran, Ruben Vazquez, jamming with Ricardo Lemvo at Lorraines's and a concert at Trane's Studio with Amanda Martinez on vocals and David Virelles on piano.
----------Macondo Latin Jazz lead by Mauricio "Angel" Leiva, an enjoyable opportunity for Gustavo to play some great big band latin jazz arrangements alongside peruvian drummer Luisito Orbegoso and trumpeter Bob Rice. Some great "descargas" at the Bamboo, The Rex Hotel and Nathan Phillips Square as part of the Toronto Jazz Festival.
----------As co-founder songwriter and percussionist of Toronto's Bando Sur Gustavo brought candombe and murga rhythms to clubs and festivals in Canada, the band featured Adriana Martinez and Alejandra Nunez on vocals as well as Kevin Cook on bass, Stacie McGregor on Piano, Carlos Anesetti on guitar and Sergio Faluotico on drums.
Bando Sur was included in a CBC disc compilation produced by Billy Bryans and a "Maracas Productions" recording with bands: Nazka, Da Cocada and Southern Soul.
Highlights: sold out Bamboo Club concert on a tuesday night!
Opening for Yomo Toro at The Hispanic Fiesta's main stage.
