Born in Sabadell (Barcelona) Juan Cortes Santiago "Duquende" went on scene when he was only 7 years old, invited by the mythic Camarón de la Isla. Maestro CAMARON himself took the guitar so that young Duquende could sing! He started then a brilliant career where he happened to be performing on the most prestigious scenes in Spain and around the world.Since 1993, " Duquende y la guitarra de Tomatito ", his album in duo with Tomatito, he definitely reached the status of one of the best cantaores in history. In 1996, he was the first flamenco singer invited to perform a recital at the Champs-Elysées Theater in Paris. In 1997, a major event occurs in his career as Paco De LucÃa himself asked him to join the Paco De LucÃa Septet. Until 2005, Duquende sings in Paco's albums "LuzÃa" and "Cositas Buenas" and he performs international tours with the Septet. In parallel, Duquende follows his own career as a soloist. In the year 2000, he is on tour in the European capitals and in North America where he performed a mythic concert at Central Park in New York. His path is impressive, collaborations with the best flamenco guitarists such as Paco De LucÃa, Tomatito, Juan Habichuela, Juan Manuel Cañizares, Vicente Amigo, MoraÃto Chico and more recently with Chicuelo collaborating together since a few years from album creation and production to concerts in live. Duquende is also part of the fabulous spectacle Qawwali Flamenco, where he is performing with Faiz Ali Faiz.In 2007 almost 20 years after the legendary disc of Camaron de la Isla, recorded in live at "Cirque d'Hiver de Paris", Duquende presents a memorable recital of Cante in this mythic place. With Chicuelo's magistral guitar and the "cajon"of Isaac el Rubio, the "maestro" brings to us a disc of deep Cante. Tarantas, Fandangos and Martinetes combined with Tangos and Bulerias giving to this album the dimension of a piece of Art.elcorteingles.es
