Randal Corsen was born on the Caribbean island of Curaçao in 1972. He has been living and working as a professional musician (pianist, composer) in the Netherlands since 1990. Known for mixing jazz and classical music with music from his island of birth, Randal is considered to be one of Curaçao’s most important music ambassadors abroad. He received much acclaim for his 2003 CD ‘Evolushon’, for which he was presented the prestigious Edison Jazz Award. His characteristic versatility also becomes evident with a classical music recording released in 2005: the CD ‘Corsen plays Corsen’ with piano pieces composed by his great-grandfather Joseph Sickman Corsen (1853-1911).
In 2007 Randal will release his new CD ‘ArmonÃa’. The CD was recorded in the famous Systems Two recording studio’s in Brooklyn, New York in 2006, featuring a stellar line-up: Randal is accompanied by Scott Colley on bass, Antonio Sanchez on drums, Pernell Saturnino on percussion and special guests Roy Hargrove on trumpet and flugelhorn and Paquito d'Rivera on clarinet and alto sax.
