About Me

Writing short stories, poems and novels in the genres of horror and dark and light fantasy is my primary interest. My secondary interest lies in computer gaming and computer game writing. Up until the beginning of 2007, it was the other way around. While I enjoyed writing about computer games (and even made a little money and good friends and contacts in the process), my work in that field felt more like a distraction and left me feeling unfulfilled. When I saw a short story of mine called Flesh is Weak appear on the Magus Press website and received encouraging words from its founder, David Montoya, I knew that crafting more exciting stories was what I was meant to do all along.
My first short story to go to print, Twisted Blood, is part of an anthology called Concrete Blood featuring some amazing horror writers. Concrete Blood can be purchased at
http://www.lulu.com/content/959943 . I also have a short fantasy story called Crimson Honor Fading as well as two dark poems, all published in the first annual fine eclectic compilation from Word Weavers. The First Annual Word Weavers Compilation can be purchased at http://www.lulu.com/content/1065372 . Speaking of Word Weavers, I am very proud to be one of the four members who keep the wonderful organization running so smoothly. If you are an avid reader, aspiring writer, or published author, I welcome you to make friends with Word Weavers . I promise you will not regret it!
I find every medium of horror, fantasy, sci-fi and their many sub-genres to be utterly fascinating as well as essential to self-expression and group-expression. This includes music, novels, short stories, flash, comics, movies, manipulated photography (not sure of the technical term for that) TV (the uncensored, non-mushy stuff, of course), paintings (I won't use the term "art" because "art" is in everything to some degree.), poetry, clothing, costumery, toys and anything else I may have missed. I want to absorb all of these things and feed off of the incredible inspiration they all produce.
"For anyone not familiar with Dave Rex's work, I highly suggest they check it out. Bleeder is an amazing work and if you have not yet become acquainted with it, I suggest you do." - David Montoya, founder, Magus Press"A great setup, Dave! Your style reminds me of "Slob" and "The Light at the End"...you officially have my interest in Bleeder!" - Charles Spencer, author of Hell Knight

In particular, I hope to soon meet Cassandra Lee , an amazing horror author and great friend who was kind enough to publish a wannabe author like me.

NOTICE: If I suspect that your MySpace page has been hacked or it appears to be a spam page of some sort, I will deny your add request. Likewise, if you post any solicitations that do not pertain to my interests, I will delete them immediately and remove you as a friend. No offense, but I'm tired of all that stupid shit. Ah, but this is the price we all must pay for the freedom of the intraweb, eh? Having said that, thank you for visiting my little corner of the MySpace universe and have a BLOODY wonderful night! ^_^

Music:

Too much to list without aggravating the old carpal tunnel. I will mention Voltaire as the artist I listen to most often while writing. He's creepy, amusing and smooth at the same time and his lyrics are very poetic. 'When You're Evil' is a personal favorite.

I also highly recommend Jeremiah Saint's music. I have just recently made his song Bleeder my official profile song (and yes, it was written for my novel by the same name). To hear more of his hauntingly hypnotic sounds, I urge you to click on the banner below. Do it now or I'll burn out your retinas with my mind! You know I can!

Jeremiah also lends his amazing talents to the band Phase Theory!

Movies:

Most.

The movie that started me down a path rather more dark than most tread, and at the impressionable young age of nine to boot.

Television:

Some.

Books:

Of course! For instance, there's the one I'm working on now called BLEEDER:
LINKS OF INTEREST:
Here's a poem I wrote a while back. It has a great deal of personal meaning to me. It's called Sweet Belladonna Lee and can be found in the First Annual Word Weavers Compilation :
Many a love have I come to know
In my journey to overcome woe
Yet none has quite affected me
So much as Sweet Belladonna Lee
Eyes that spoke, "Come to me."
Words that sung love's harmony
Smiles that hit the heart of me
This was Sweet Belladonna Lee
She reached out 'n drew me near
Inviting to succumb without fear
Such beguiling charms has she
This most Sweet Belladonna Lee
Just one night 'neath the stars
A prisoner I, yet without bars
A slow, soft kiss most tenderly
Just me 'n Sweet Belladonna Lee
This a love I thought to be true
Our passion growing 'til day anew
I then found myself on bended knee
For want to wed Sweet Belladonna Lee
I could not move, was in a daze
My eyes were glazed, hers ablaze
Her mouth went wide, fangs did I see
This was not my Sweet Belladonna Lee
As though to kiss, we then embraced
But her desire had been displaced
Not love, but blood she wanted of me
MY once was Sweet Belladonna Lee
How for so long could I believe
Her love was not given to deceive
How cruel when such is meant to be
How cruel the Sweet Belladonna Lee
By sheer will alone I arduously resisted
The warm embrace turned dark 'n twisted
I thought I'd best gather my wits 'n flee
The false charms of Sweet Belladonna Lee!

Heroes:

Villains are far more interesting. Never stop rooting for them. They're bound to win sometime.

Boris Karloff (R.I.P. 1887-1969) - A dedicated and accomplished actor of both stage and screen, an avid reader, a kind soul and a gentleman in the truest sense.
