All the world is asleep and I am awake, all live wire and noise---disjointed waking sequence on cold

About Me

Let's just say I was here, then I was gone, and now I'm back. Family things took me home and things more important than MySpace needed my full attention. What can I tell you about me?---mostly confused, try my best to get it right, don't always succeed. Addendum: I'm starting to rebuild my friendship list and trying to remember who was on it before. Some I could never forget, some I never really knew and some I fear will think I'm a creepy stalker who goes away and then comes back. I guess the only thing I can say about the last item is, I don't have the enormous powers of commitment that are required for the blind, obsessive adoration of the stalker set. Although, if stalker's anonymous supplies free ice cream and a poker night once a month---I might try to fake it. FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE: THE ROPES---they're an NYC band and Kill Her Off is one of the most annoyingly catchy songs that I've heard in a long time. Right now I love it---but I reserve the right to hate it after I've played it over and over for 10 hours straight. I think they add request people via some of that irritating "optimize your MySpace abilities" software. Doesn't matter though...., quality stuff and I find anyone who lists Aztec Camera as an influence funny and a bit smart assity (my sister loved her 45 of Oblivious to death and made me listen to it as a child--ad nauseum). Thanks to Vinyl Radio---you can check them out in my friends section. Like I said, their CD is coming out in March. They've commented that they'll get a copy of it to me and if they're serious then that's really, really nice of them and will be greatly appreciated by me....., and yet I'm not sure I want them to know where I live.

My Interests

In no particular order of importance: avoiding travel by small plane, skiing (and falling and tumbling, then sliding face first down a snowy, icy slope), food (I somehow feel guilty for admitting that I generally like food), theatre, dance, music, art, books, singing (even if no one wants me to). Oh and tennis, because gimpy people should enjoy sports too.

I'd like to meet:

I don't have a burning desire to meet anyone in particular---although I still have my platonic crush on Diane Keaton.

Music:

I stopped identifying myself with one type of music at 5 (what a smart ass)

Movies:

Lots and lots---recently saw "Jindabyne" and recommend it highly.

Television:

Although I managed to elude this question in the past, I'm going to admit a burgeoning love for decorating shows that have a $4 budget and supply you and the hapless designer with nothing but 6 toothpicks, a 1/2 roll of Mentos and a '70's book of fabric swatches.

Books:

Recent read: "The Weather Makers", because I like to be informed and/or scare myself shitless about global warming and the resulting climate changes.

Heroes:

Let's talk about heroic times and acts by generally flawed human beings.

Entitlement

I've never possessed a wagnerian sense of entitlement---that entitlement that comes from a deep seated arrogance as to your worth on a universal scale.  I am in awe of people who have that arroga...

Death Mask

I found myself in my old stomping ground (because I like to use cliches that old men prefer to use) yesterday, and decided to go looking for the man whose face is depicted in my profile sketch.  ...
